Catching Up

Doing a lot of that now with the summer travel behind me. Lots and lots of fun had by all, and now it’s time (or almost) to dive back into routine.

We finished up the summer travel with an earlier-than-usual trip to NYC. With Kat due next month, we moved that fall tradition up. And were gifted with my kind of weather. Hot and sunny!

Hot and sunny didn’t stop me from the hunt for more Christmas presents. I did pretty well on that front. It also didn’t stop me from indulging my weakness for boots. Mmm, boots. The best thing about cold weather, imo.

BW and I hit a street fair the day we got in–and there I scored some adorable onsies for you know who. Later in the week, Jason and I hit The Gap, naturally ended up in the baby section. TBD (they haven’t settled on his name) can now celebrate his first Halloween as Chewbacca (cutest little one-piece, winter weight deal) or a cat (adorable cat hoodie with little ears!)

More fun for me to see how into the baby clothes my baby boy was.

Spent a great day shopping and hanging out with my fabulous editor and amazing agent–so we, too, were able to catch up in person. We had Waitress picked as our Broadway night, but said amazing agent was able to score Hamilton tickets.

Wow. Just wow. A stupendous show. Glorious. Oh, the voices, the music. The energy. We just loved it.

Temps dropped and rain moved in as we packed up last Sunday. We figure this is the last trip with Pregnant Kat. Next time: BABY!

Our girl is doing great, looking great as she comes down the last leg.

Back home to delighted dogs.

Really happy to get back to work last week, to dive into that routine.

Kept a close eye on Florence as she pushed her way toward the Carolinas. Scary and awful, and I’m hoping any of you who might have been in her path got to safety. Heart-breaking to see the damage she’s done.

Nora and Kayla

Here, while we had rain, rain, rain last weekend and into the start of the week, it went back to warm and sunny. Warm, sunny–and very humid for yesterday’s booksigning. But that didn’t stop readers from traveling to Turn The Page, and helping make it a really fun day for everyone. My favorite visitor was a young boy who came with his mom and some friends. He wanted to know if I was His Grandmother’s Author, and was skeptical at first because I wasn’t wearing the same earrings I wore on the book jacket.

Another fave brought their aunt in Puerto Rico to the signing via FaceTime. Now that’s fun!

Technology works!

It’ll be back to routine for me on Monday, and I’ll have a good, solid week of work before the weekend. And . . . Kat’s baby shower next Sunday. Seriously can’t wait. We’ll have friends, family, games, (sorry, Laura!)* prizes, all those adorable baby things for Mom-To-Be to open, good food, wine–and an amazing cake. We’ll be sure to take some pictures.

After that, it’ll be time for Countdown To Baby!

  1. I’m constantly amazed at how much you can squeeze into a day, and/or a trip. Your little travel logs make me want to visit NY, and that’s saying a lot.

Can’t wait to see all the coming photos of baby world. I’m certain you will excel in that effort. I don’t need to add this, but, enjoy yourself!

  2. Love the pictures! Kayla is taller than Nora – has she finished growing? The little boy sounds precious. Be sure to post a picture of TBD in his Chewbacca costume! Thank you for the update!

  3. A shopping trip to NYC is just the thing- and add Hamilton and you’ve got a win win! I’m curious to know how often fans recognize you when you are out and about, Nora? I hope that they are respectful and not crazy! Just finished Leverage In Death last week. Fantastic story! Thank you!

  4. It was a great time yesterday. The rain stayed away, which was my concern. I was blessed to have my mom and sister with me, so I could talk and not worry about taking pictures. (you know how I love to talk to the authors) In the picture above, my sister is taking a picture for me while you are watching FaceTime. Love it! See you next month! Have fun at the shower.

  5. Nora and Laura, thank you for sharing the New York trip and yesterday’s book signing. I’m happy to see Jason with his mom 🙂 Nora, wonderful picture of you and Kayla, love your jacket and boots!

  6. Thank you for the wonderful update! Sounds like a wonderful time was had by all. I will say I have been lucky enough to see both Waitress and Hamilton on tour in DC. I think both are good but Hamilton is in a class by itself. I’m so glad you got to see it. Hope Kat has an easy last few weeks and can’t wait to hear about he who is not yet named.

  7. I keep hoping to bump into you in NYC, but no luck so far. I have to be satisfied w/the pix of us at your NYC romance writers meet. I will tell you this. You have grandkids , so you know the joy. But I can tell you, I have been blessed to welcome my first two great-grandchildren this year (even tho we are 2 years apart, I got an earlier start than you.) There is absolutely nothing like that joy- imagine your Kayla w/a baby of her own!
I just finished Leverage over the weekend, & loved it. As I & many others have said before, the story is secondary- the relationship between Eve & Roarke is primary, & the reason we all hunger for more. BTW- my vote for the candy thief is Baxter. I wonder when you will unmask him?

  8. Fortunate baby to have so much love and care surrounding him!

Hoping against hope that all those in Florence’s path stay safe!!!

  9. My bird jumped when I laughed out loud at Laura’s asterisk! Thanks so much for sharing, glad you had a good time at the signing. Watching Kayla grow up, I know it will be fun with TBD’s toddler-hood.

  10. I gotta say that I really enjoyed my time there and getting to meet my favorite author. I was thankful that we had good weather. This was the first time I have ever been to a book signing. I fell in love with Boonsboro through the Inn at Boonsboro trilogy and couldn’t wait to get there. It took me almost 5 years to make it happen. I love your books and look forward to new ones coming out.

  11. Thanks for sharing the NYC trip with us. It sounds as though you all had a great time.

I enjoyed watching the book signing at TTP. I am determined to treat myself to a weekend at the Inn including a day at TTP.

Good luck and blessings to Kat as she awaits her little one.

  12. WAIT! Baby will be here for Halloween?! 😮 How times fly so fast?! Forgot to be nervous as I thought I still had time to 😉
Of course Jason is now into baby clothes… soon kids smell the best… hooked in ❤️
So much fun and joy. A New Baby! YAY!
May Kat has a glorious (and brief) hour and you’ll be all able to wrap the new bundle of joy with laughter and all the love.
Poor Laura. They find all excuses to put you through that torture 😉 Have “fun” 😉 🙂

  13. Glad you all made it back home safe and able to get your Fall trip to NY. I can relate with all the “baby” stuff buying…I used to do the same thing….would always try to picture the grandchild in an outfit. Can’t wait for more updates on Kat and baby???

    1. Loved Leverage. Got all your teasers. Missed the loving between Eve and Roark. When Eve mixes up phases I laugh out loud. Peabody is one of my all time favorites. I get a kick out of her giving Eve a little jab. All books great. Started when Nora started and don’t know what to do with all her books. Read them two or three times.

  14. Love Nora Roberts and JD Robb, I get so excited when a new book comes out here in Australia, I too re-read all my collection two or three times, I love the detail in every story and I’m amazed at the diverse story lines
