Today Fury in Death is finally out in the US. I know some readers outside the US read it last week, but I waited until today to open this discussion space.
A reminder of the official description:

I’ve said a couple of times that Fury leapt into my top 3 In Deaths when I read it last fall. What did you think?

I absolutely agree with your ranking. It’s in my top three as well. The things that made it stand out for me: the perfect blend of the case with the slice of life moments. An antagonist who was sympathetic. Eve’s character growth from Naked in Death to Fury has been stunning, and oh so beautifully handled. This isn’t the same troubled and lonely introvert we first met way back when, I mean, she’s still as brilliant and still as much a smartass (thank god) but oh man, the growth, she definitely feels more settled and just overall more happy and it’s visceral. The moments between her and Roarke were, as ever, moving, romantic and sweet. Their chemistry is as wonderful as ever. Also Galahad being best boy was such a great and fantastic moment, the little snitch, lol. It was also heartwarming to see how far Eve and Summerset have come, he knew exactly how to maneuver her into accepting medical care, exactly the tone she preferred to be soothed. It was honestly the first time I thought that Summerset has actually grown to care for Eve for herself, and not just because they both love Roarke. Not even Bonded gave that vibe (thought I loved it). And the house warming party and birth was simultaneously hilarious and heartwarming. Truly a special series of moments with found family. All of that catapulted Fury to one of the best. It had everything. Thank you, Nora, for the incredible ride!
Typo I noticed: “Red Horse” is written as “Red House” at one point.
Also, how come one of the executives has a coordinator and assistant, while another has one person who does both?
Got the hardcover a couple of hours ago and ran into a problem with the QR code on the inside of the dust jacket. It wouldn’t scan like all the others and I don’t know if that’s because of a printing error at the shop.
Haven’t had a chance to read it yet, but I agree with the prior poster about the Illuminati/Priory of Sion/Da Vinci Code style plots. IMHO, they’re readable, but they don’t go on my “re-read any chance I get” list. That’s saved for Brotherhood in Death, Celebrity in Death, Big Jack, and Creation in Death.
However, Nora will write what Nora will write, and the rest of us will buy her books and maybe kvetch and request ideas but it’s totally up to Nora what gets written; all we can do is buy/not buy or read/not read her work.

I just finished Fury and I have to agree with this book being in my top three. What a story. I usually try to draw a new “in death” book out by reading slowly over a few days but this book. WOWZER!! I began and there was no putting it down. I loved that we got to enjoy the “great house project” house warming and Mavis giving birth in the same time frame. I’ve been wondering if this might happen and am so thrilled that we got both story lines at the same time. Thank you Nora for a truly GREAT story
You will have typos no matter hoe many times a manuscript is proofed.
