We’re 67 days away from November 19 when The Mirror — book 2 in The Lost Brides Trilogy — hits shelves and e-readers.
I know there were questions at the end of Inheritance. I can assure you that many of them are answered in The Mirror. For everyone who wants a peek at some of those answers, I’m happy to share the excerpt today.
First, here’s the official description:
When Sonya MacTavish inherits the huge Victorian mansion on the coast of Maine, she has no idea that the house is haunted. The footsteps she hears at night, the doors slamming, the music playing, are not figments of her imagination. In her dreams she sees glimpses of the past. In the present she finds portraits of brides. And when she has visions of an antique mirror, she is drawn to it, sensing it holds dark family secrets.
Then one night the mirror appears and Sonya glides through this looking glass, into the past—and sees a bride murdered on her wedding day, the circle of gold torn from her finger. It is a scene that will play out again and again—a centuries-old curse that must be broken—and a puzzle she must solve if there is any hope of breaking the curse.

Going to throw my Cranky Publicist hat on for a sec: we have to remember to trust Nora to tell the story her way. Because it always ends up being a really fun ride.
Enjoy!

WOW!
Wow wow wow! Thast is everything i’ve been hoping for. I was on the edge of seat. Reading at 6 AM Pacific time. Bloody brilliant. It’s going to be hard to wait for November 19. Thanks for this excerpt.
So excited!!!
I am re-reading The Inheritance to be sure I am up to date!
Me too!!
So cannot wait for November to get here!!
Love the covers!
I always trust Nora but do admit, the ending of Inheritance was like watching the end of Empire Strikes Back. We all said “that can’t be it; Han’s still encased & they’ve got to get him back! ” Yep, Nora’s on the same level as Star Wars for this geek! Probably a bit above since not happy with some of the more recent SW stories. >smiling
Dang it! I always love reading the previews but it just makes me want the book to hurry up and get here.
Excellent!!! So looking forward to see what happens next!
Man oh man, this just made me more anxious for November. Especially as I just reread The Inheritance!! Can’t wait!!
Thank you Nora for always ‘bringing it’.
So good!! Can’t wait until November! It’s already such a fun (is that the right word?) series!! Thanks Nora!
I can’t wait for my pre-order to come in November! Another great adventure.
I was lucky to have gotten an invite to receive an ARC of The Mirror. I literally devoured it in a few days. So good! Didn’t want it to end! And these covers are so beautiful!! Can’t wait to get my hands on the hardcover and the audiobook.
Gonna be another good one! Gotta time it to read “The Inheritance” and finish it when this comes out. Woohoo!
Just finished rereading The Inheritance for the nth time and thought to check for an excerpt. Bam and Wow! Looking forward to the 19th of November.
Exactly how I got here. I know that sometimes NR does a first chapter and searched for it. Glad I did, at least the immediate trauma of re-reading is solved. Yes, I care what comes next but I was afraid they’d get stuck on the other side of the mirror!
Sooooo excited for this book. I will follow tradition and re-read the first one, then this new one. The most fun is when the 3rd comes out and I get to absorb all three in a row. Thank you for these lovely escapes from reality. 😁
Do you know if it will be the same narrator for Audible? I love the trilogies, but it always throws me a little or something seems to get lost when the reader is different in each book. Thank you! Am really looking forward to this!
Brittany Pressley will narrate all three books in the trilogy. -Laura
Thank you Laura!
Just finished reading the sneak peek of “The Mirror.” I can’t wait to sink my teeth into it and find out the next step to breaking the curse of the seven brides.
Love love love this. Can’t wait for the 19th so I can read and then listen (always read first, listen second as a rule) to The Mirror! Having the cliffhanger angst gone is a gift and just whets my appetite for more!!!
I was lucky enough to read an ARC. Can’t wait to discuss with everyone.
Has anyone else already checked Spotify for a new Clover playlist? I’m excited for book 2.
I will share that after publication. And I’ll share the link. Promise. -Laura
I told myself I would wait until closer to pub date to read this. I did, but I didn’t wait long enough – I’m nearly bouncing in my chair! I know you have fans who wait until all three books are active, but that’s just beyond my ability. Really looking forward to five weeks from now!
I waiting so impatiently for this book to come out!
By the way – is there any chance anyone has the actual pot roast recipe Sonya used in The Inheritance? I would love to try it for my first pot roast!
You really have to google that one — that’s what Nora did for Inheritance.

Has anyone else noticed that Hester Dobbs was a bad witch in a previous series? I think k it was the Sign of the Seven with the 3 boys. Will be interesting to see if it is a coincidence or if there is a tie-in.
That was Hester Deale.
