    1. I’ve just finished the mirror. I can’t wait for the third book to come out. I can’t even find it to pre-order and I don’t know the name of it, but this was so good. I love both books and in fact, I reread the inheritance before I started the mirror so that I would be caught up with everything so now I just have to wait patiently and find something else of Nora to read thank you for all your wonderful stories Nora you have a gift and share it with us and we are grateful.

            I think in a different comment I shared that Nora lays out the pot roast recipe (one she googled years ago) in Inheritance. In her own cooking, Nora does herbs and such to taste — not specific measurements as she does for baking. Give Sonya’s cooking process another look and give it a try.

    3. I started reading The Mirror and listening to the audiobook. I stopped 1/4 of the way through and went back to reread and re-listen to The Inheritance book and audiobook. Just to refresh my memory. I fully believe that next November when book 3 is out, I will reread and re-listen to the first two books before I start book 3. These books are very special. They are 1/3 longer than most of her books and there is no way I can figure out what’s going to come next. Nora Roberts really did a beautiful job on these books. I’m loving them!

  4. I just did something monumentally stupid. I finished my re-read of Inheritance at about 100 AM. I wasn’t sleepy, so I thought I’d download The Mirror (book 2), and then just look into it, only a little bit.

    I finished the book abut 9:30 this morning.

    And while I’m exhausted, I’m still not sleepy – So I’m going to go sit in my reading chair and read one of my (comparatively) stuffy science nonfiction books, and hope that will tire my eyes enough that I might be able to take a nap this afternoon.

  7. Just finished it again amazing story telling kept me turning the pages to see what happens next can’t believe have to wait so long for the final installment. My own fault should not have read so fast but will re-read both books again. Thank you for crafting characters that we all grow to love and enjoy.

          3. Nora works very hard at sharing her gift of writing. Sometimes for any trilogy from any writer, I wonder about waiting for the last book to come out before starting to read the series so I can read them all at once. It’s still a wait, so it doesn’t cut down the time. I always re-read the books from the series before I read the new one. I read so fast that I sometimes miss things and I really need to re-read it at a slower pace to get the full picture. Plus, you can always re-read any of Nora’s books because they’re so good. I started reading her books when she started publishing. Being of Irish descent, I loved anything that had that connection, plus horses equals heaven.

          4. I am so glad I have my Kindle, because I would’ve ruined all the bindings with how many times I re-read her books. I also wouldn’t be able to live in my house with all the books I have on my Kindle.

          5. I loved every minute of the 2nd installment and can’t wait for the 3rd book in the trilogy. Somehow we’ll survive the wait, barely. Great job as always. Thank you Nora for always writing great books whether it be all your trilogies or stand alones that I have read and re-read too many times to count or your In Death series.       1. What a wonderful gift, thank you, Nora! I enjoyed a leisurely (for me) read throughout the long weekend. Losing myself in the story was the perfect antidote to a stressful last few months. I think my favorite part was meeting the girls’ immediate family prior to The Event, specially Cleo’s grandmother. Of course, as a cat person, I appreciated Pye’s inclusion in the story, too. I’m sorry to learn some people are grumping about the time between books… what rock did they crawl out from under?!?!? If they can’t delay their gratification for a year between releases, then either wait and read the entire trilogy once published, or don’t read Nora … but seriously, don’t be rude! If the ghosts of LBM have waited more than 200 years to rid themselves of Hester Dobbs, I figure we can wait a year to find out how it is done. ❤

        1. Just finished the Mirror! WOW this is getting so good! I cried several times in this book! And so very heart warming to meet the whole family and see their interactions with each other and our central characters. I also thought it was about time Cleo and Owen quit dancing around each other and finally became a thing! I can’t wait to read Seven Rings!! I hope we get to find out why Dobbs became so obsessed with the manor to begin with.
          Every year my daughter gets me the new Nora book for my birthday because she always has her new trilogy books out towards Thanksgiving and that is my bday timeframe as well!!

  11. Boy, did I pull a rookie move. I was still up when Audible released The Mirror. I told myself I was only going to listen for an hour – hah! I’ve had so much fun with this story, laughing and crying. Yeah, it’s going to be a looooong year, but I’m okay with that. Absolutely loved it. I had a long and solid nap after. The narrator knocked this one out of the park!

Sorry, spotted another minor discrepancy… in Chapter 23 Winter talks about the four paintings by Sonya’s father – the three she found there and the one she brought with her, but in The Inheritance, Chapter 4, Sonya is going to take the two of her father’s paintings she’d chosen to keep after his death. I’m a nit-picker I’m afraid…. Still enjoying it, shall probably read it for a third time tomorrow!

    1. You’re welcome to nitpick if that makes you happy, but there’s no way to fix an error or typo in a published book. Mistakes just happen.

Nora pulls me in everytime and weaves this fantastic story where I care about all the characters. So glad we got to met Cleo’s family and Sonya’s grandparents. Totally worth staying up for!     I think I feel worse for Gretta than the characters do, but otoh, emotional abuse can be really hard to understand. You can use all the logic in the world about how someone has money, but if their emotionally abusive and controlling mother is throwing everything against them, and has been since birth…

    Also I have a sneaking fondness for Patricia. Coming back to the family tree problem: would Poole Shipbuilders have survived without her? It’s one of my favourite NR things, letting you see how a character’s vices are their virtues, and their virtues their vices.

      And yes, I too feel somewhat sorry for Gretta – I think some people are being too hard on her. Emotional abuse really is as hard to escape (or maybe harder) than physical abuse.

  22. Just finished. The book was an excellent addition to the trilogy. Without giving it away, I laughed out loud when the men went one way and the women another. With the narration and Nora’s excellent writing it was a great moment in the book.

  24. Another great book. I re-read her Doom trilogy and Inheritance before I started on The Mirror. I think I will re-read her Dragon trilogy next. Her books are so good that I can keep reading them over and over again.

          1. Haha I like “Doom Trilogy”. I restarted Dragon Heart trilogy after The Mirror but I considered Chronicles of The One.” Which I may now think of as the doom trilogy.

  25. Excellent story. Absolutely love it. I tried to take my time reading it but it was impossible. The story just draws you in and makes you feel like you’re standing in the manor itself watching each bride’s story unfold. This is turning into my favorite trilogy and The Circle trilogy is my absolute favorite ever. This one might finally top it. I gotta add that since the last book I required another dog that came with the name Jack. My other dog is Yoda. They’ve been the best of friends since the day one. So reading about Jack and Yoda moments make me smile. Thanks for those.

  26. I read it quickly so the next person on the library waitlist could get it. I loved it! Thank you Nora for another wonderful book. Pye was great, I enjoyed getting to know more about the ghosts and I wondered if the purple griffin in the mural was a nod to a certain little boy in Nora’s life. Looking forward to the final book!

  27. Oh, the scene where Sonya’s grandmother “talks” to Clover… I was sniffling all the way through! Loved the idea of the spirits having their own party while Sonya and the others were gone! 😀

  31. While I’ve loved all of Nora’s books, some characters are just that…characters. When the book is over, I’m done with the character. But then there are some characters/stories to whom you immediately become attached. This series is one of those cases. I just love these characters, and while I will wait patiently and politely for the final book of the series, I will be so excited for the release next year. I have a question about how Nora builds the location of her books. I’ll use Maine as the example because I live here and I know that certain places like Portland, Kennebunk, Ogunquit, Bar Harbor, are legit places, but I’m wondering what is the inspiration for the home bases (Poole’s Bay, Windy Point from One Man’s Art)? Are there specific town’s that serve as the basis, are they an amalgamation of multiple towns, or are they entirely designed on paper to serve the story?

  32. Just finished. My favorite part was their big event. It sounded beautiful, but it broke my heart a little to think of Jack watching all the other children playing with the dogs and cat ajd not being able to join in. And when Son’s grandma was speaking with Clover telling her about Drew I’m not ashamed to admit I teared up.

    1. And so interesting that Cleo’s grand mere could SEE him, and Molly, and the Cigar smoker.

    1. Nora googled the pot roast recipe a long time ago. But if you follow Sonya’s process in Inheritance, Nora lays it out pretty much step by step.

      1. Speaking of pot roast, there’s Marco’s pot roast in the Dragon Heart trilogy that disappeared into the ether in The Becoming. He made it and asked Breen to put a magickal timer on it so it’ll be ready for dinner. Yet when they return to the cottage latter with Morena, he makes fish and chips for dinner with fish the mer kids gave him. The poor pot roast is never mentioned again. It took to the third reading of the book to catch that.
        Yes instead of the Chronicles of the One, I just wrote Doom because I forgot the name of the trilogy. Oops.

    2. YES!!! Actually there are sooooooo many recipes that I’d love for you to share besides the pot roast: Cleo’s pasta & vodka sauce, Morgan Nash’s Sangria, Lucy’s not too tart-not too sweet lemonade… please compile a recipe book.

      1. If Nora wrote a cookbook, she’d never have time to write fiction! We’re going to have to let her work to her strengths.

      2. Let me add, a lot of the food in the books doesn’t come from my personal recipes. In fact, that rarely happens. It’s maybe a dish I think suits the moment, or one I look up hunting for one to suit the moment. And last, writing a cookbook is a very specific skill, which I don’t have!

        1. Everything always sounds so tasty. I have been looking up recipes ever since the Bookmaker sandwich in the Ardmore trilogy. Nora’s gift of telling the story, brings everything to life, including the food. I love trying recipes after reading the books. It’s part of the fun, just like planting flowers that are mention in the stories. Like planning trips based on book locations.

I loved every word, every single moment submerged in the story across these two books.   38. Love how they are using happiness to drive “The Entity” crazy. I enjoyed the Event, with the “extra” guests and help as well as the extended family members of Cleo’s and Sonya’s families, and the Pooles. The way they are getting more of the information from the Mirror and Gretta weaves in. And I did like the idea of the ghosts having a party when the “livings” are away.

  44. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a fun read and loved all the characters. I got to admit I am happy it ended the way it did. After reading the first book I was so upset at the way it ended. It was nothing that Nora did it was just that I wanted to know some conclusions. Anyone else? I will await the next book for conclusions!

  45. It ended like THAT!!! I almost threw my nook across the room then remembered it just meant another damned fine book by Ms Roberts. There were so many scenes where this evoked love, strength, chosen family and born to family. I just adored it. I’d live for Trey to find a stronger nickname for Sonya, but I love that he quickly got to nickname stage. She’s a stronger female than cutie connotes! Loved Cleo’s family and a trilogy with them would be amazing! Can’t wait for the Playlist Laura mentioned. Another home run.

    1. So I just have to say how much I love the different take on this trilogy, usually it’s 1 story split into 3 parts and each book has a couple and it’s own HEA. But this…. The ending on a cliff hanger… Oh when I read The Inheritance for the 1st time and got to the ending when Sonya and Owen walked through the Mirror I literally threw my book across the room. It was insane. Then I picked it up, and started it over again. Then proceeded to buy the audio book. .
      This story is so well written, I love Clover and her musical tastes. And when Jack left Sonya a note I smiled , then burst into tears when Sonya’s grandma was “talking” to Clover about how her son was loved the moment he was put into their arms.
      Oh I wish that it was 2025 already bc I NEED the last book. I will be counting down

      1. I’d say her earlier trilogies followed the plan you outline. BUT, not The Chronicles of the One, or the Dragon Heart trilogies. I think the Dark Witch one was probably the last to do that. Personally, I like it both ways! I DO always hope for more romance than she’s been including lately. But I use my imagination some on that. What Trey’s thinking, what Sonya’s thinking – and more what Owen’s thinking and what Cleo is thinking…

    2. Added to say, over the weekend, I missed my friends and wanted to know what Cleo made for dinner and how the summer plantings were coming along. I love diving into a world created by Ms Roberts and the after party hangover is real

  46. I really liked this story, even if the plot didn’t advance as far as I hoped. I can see that Nora worked hard here, setting up a series of layers to the story.

    I keep imagining that the house and it’s occupants are going to play a role in the final showdown. Especially Clover, who I adore.

    I’m also wondering whether Heater was still pregnant when she jumped off the seawall. I have my suspicions about where her progeny may have ended up.

  47. Just a quick question. Does putting epsom salt in the soil really work for planting some vegetables? If so can you tell me how much?

    1. Epsom salt is great for tomatoes, peppers, and I think, roses. You can google it, as I can’t remember the amount right off. But the magnesium is really good for veg.

  50. I was patiently waiting for this book after reading and loving book 1 in this trilogy. I can say book 2 was a bit of a disappointment for me. I kept thinking ok when am I going to learn something relevant …I liked this book but not a Nora favorite and I’m truly hoping the next book in this series comes sooner rather than later. Nora is still absolutely one of my favorite authors!

  51. Just loved both Inheritance and The Mirror. Counted down the days till The Mirror was released and had it finished by morning. Who else thinks Brandon Wise is going to show up in Maine to stir up trouble in the final book.
    Nora Robert is my favorite writer and I can’t imagine how she has so many stories to tell.

  52. Great book. You can’t help but be caught up in the story and see all that is described.
    To me this trilogy was different than most of her past. I kept waiting for a 3rd couple to come on scene. And for this book to focus in on Cleo and Owen.
    I’m not disappointed. I can clearly see the house and all the inhabitants as the third couple.
    And am glad we are getting to know some of the spirits that are not one of the lost brides, though I would love to see more interaction from them in the last novel.

They all feel like family now, and the little touches (the Sunday dinner at the Doyles, Grand mere’s gifts, and oh, Mrs. Mac talking to Clover about her son…oh how I cried!) show the wonderful foundations of family that just make the story stronger. I want Molly’s sister to come live with me! Hester and Brandon deserve each other–maybe she could make him her slave for all eternity? Just a thought…I so hope when the curse is broken, Clover, Jack, Molly, and the others can come back once in a while to visit and not just vanish

  57. I love everything Nora especially especially JD Rob series. I just want to voice my opinion in regards to the long release dates for the lost bride series. waiting for the third release, For over a year, I think is a little much in my humble opinion. Period.

    1. It takes time to write the books, then to edit and produce them. As Nora writes three other books in a year, it’s pretty darn fast.

      1. Not only that, but her books are still amazing! She could be releasing garbage books every other month and we’d still buy them, because Nora is a Queen. She doesn’t do that because she takes pride in her work and wants to do the story and characters justice. Waiting sucks because she’s an incredible author and writes fantastic books, but that’s also the reason her books are worth the wait. Also, she has a life and family to enjoy, and shouldn’t be expected to chain herself to her computer, no matter how invested in a story or hot for Roarke we are.

          2. I have to say this…This new generation never knew what it was to have Darth Vader say, “I am your father” and then have to wait THREE years to see what happened next. Or worse, see Han frozen, Leia and Chewy a mess, and the Rebels running and have to wait another THREE years to finally see the Han-Leia love story fulfilled, the Rebs win, and Luke come into full power and acceptance. I mean, people, come on. What is One year? Do you have any clue how long Game of Thrones readers have waited (and still are) for the next book?? Seriously, learn how to anticipate and savor the wait! PS: THANK YOU, Nora, for writing these stories that capture us and transport us into other worlds and lives. I’d wait three years for the next. I wouldn’t like it, but I’d do it 🙂

Thanksgiving thankful list #25: Nora’s creativity, #26: Nora’s ability to write great characters we love and get to meet again and again when we reread (or listen to) her books, #27: thankful for choosing Brittany Pressley to narrate the Lost Bride series. She really does a great job with Cleo & family. And I know what I’m talking about as a native Louisianian living halfway between Lafayette and NOLA.

    2. In my not always humble opinion, in order to write the best book I can, I have to write at my own pace. I also write four books a year, which is a lot. The books must be edited, produced, printed, scheduled, a cover must be created, etc, etc. This take time.

      As you say you enjoy the Robb series, I imagine you’d be disappointed if I ended that series in order to give myself more time to write the trilogy, so they could come out closer together. Plus, I don’t want to end the series, or stop writing the stand alone book that comes out in the spring.

      So this is the reality of my limitations.

      1. It’s incredible that you write four excellent books a year when most authors only write one. You’ve described how hard you work to do so. You balance your work with time to simply enjoy well earned time with family and friends. I want to humbly thank you for the years of enjoyment that your books have given me.

  59. Laura – I have a question. In one of the past travelogs, specifically The Greenbriar, you mentioned in the post that a picture with a mirror in the background tied to the The Lost Bride series. That you would fill us in on when The Mirror was released.

    I’ve been dying of curiosity since that post, LOL. Can you share now the backstory or do we need to wait until the final book is released?

        *waves sheepishly* Is patience a virtue? Why am I with the kitty that’s dying of curiosity?
        Over the years I’ve found it fascinating how Nora will see an object/location in the real world and find a way to place it into her books.
        This started with my first “adult/girl” vacation back in the fall of 2017, when my older sister treated for a much needed getaway and we staying an extended weekend at Inn Boonsboro. We had a wonderful time and look forward to when schedules/life allows us to return again.
        During that stay we, of course, had to shop (several times) at The Bookstore/Gift Store and came across “The Stump Sink” with The Search in the bowl. I think a jabbered and waxed poetic to my long suffering sibling for several minutes about the story and the Stump Sink in front of us.
        LOL
        Then there was the Welcoming Tree in Ireland for the Dragon Heart Series. Ireland is on my bucket list to visit. 🙂

  60. Love the book I agree with some readers about the length of time between books. I think that a book a month would be fair rate and because I am on a fixed income the price should be reduced by 75%. I like to purchase my books from an independent bookstore in Halifax which is 100 miles away so if you could cover my vehicle expenses that would also be fair. Thank you for the great story.

  64. I enjoyed so many passages of The Mirror, it was hard to find just one. So many laughs, some mixed with a smirk on my part. I do believe NR very much enjoyed writing this one at least more than her usual enjoyment. Loved how easy Trey and Owen were with each other. Absolutely enjoyed the Mainers meeting with Cleo’s clan – they just rolled with it. Nope, can’t find a single clause.

  65. I think this trilogy is so great. Had me totally engaged and I re-read the first book. The hours of pleasure I get from a Nora’s stories is immeasurable. I was in the midst if re-reading some of her other books. They are so wonderful even the 4th or 5th reread.

  67. I pre ordered the Dutch ebook version, and it should have been available at November 21, but it wasn’t and the couldn’t say when. I got a refund but I really couldn’t wait so I bought the English version and a couple of days later I could buy the Dutch one from kobo. The English version I finished in one day (I am a quick reader in both languages) and now with less urge I am about to finish the Dutch version. I absolutely love the book…

  68. I’m not quite halfway through and totally loving it. I just wanted to say I love Pye. Brought happy tears. I had a cat named Pyewacket (also named for the cat in the movie). He’s been gone more than twenty years and reading about Cleo’s Pye brought happy memories of his sweet face. So thank you Nora for the happy memories. 🙂

    Love that Nora & Laura were able to do this as I wasn’t familiar with sone of the music so I’ll have to mention it to my niece to see if she’ll make it for us to listen to when #3 comes out.
    I enjoy that other authors have playlists with their books. Has anyone notice that some tv shows also include “play list” music in their episodes. I like that. Makes the shows more interesting.
    Look at the waits between books as sonething to look forward to rather than something that’s “being kept away from” you. Before you know it, it’ll be here.

  71. I would like to begin with a big ‘Thank You!’ to Nora Roberts/JD Robb whose books have helped me through rough times over more than 30 years.

    I loved Inheritance and The Mirror. I hope someone here can answer a question I have: How did Sonya’s father, Drew MacTavish die? I’ve listened to both the Inheritance and The Mirror audiobooks more than once and can’t seem to find a mention of his cause of death. When Winter has her conversation alone with Trey she says it was “… so hard on Sonya to lose her father that way.” Did I miss something or do we (the reader/listener) not know how Drew died?

    1. Drew’s scaffolding collapsed while painting a mural on a building. I am suspicious that evil somehow caused it, because it happened just when Collin learned he had a twin.

  73. I loved The Mirror! I have read it though once and listened to it through once again. It was interesting learning more about the family members who lived and sadly died at the manor. The relationship growing between Clover and Sonya is so lovely, and the depictions of chosen family throughout the books is beautiful. It was great to see karma come around and get the cheating ex, and I’m left wondering if we have seen the last of him or whether he is going show up and cause trouble in the final book? Can’t wait for “The Seven Rings” to come out next November! Thank you, Nora, for another wonderful book!

  75. If the last book is as good as the first two, The Lost Bride Trilogy is going to catapult to the top of my most loved NR series — okay, right next to the Sign of Seven and Key trilogies.   76. My library deliveried the book a week ago and I just finished it last night. I loved this book and really enjoyed DJ Clover and the music choices. I like Cleo and her feistiness. Did wonder if there would be another person arriving for a 3rd couple but was not disappointed when it didn’t happen. Can’t wait for the conclusion and hopeful for more DJ Clover.

    I even brought my book to Barnes & Noble to double check that I had a completed copy. Boy do I feel stupid! Glad I found y’all so that it’s now cleared up. I LOVED this series as well as all she has written. Can’t imagine having talent like hers. Just grateful she shares with us. Excited for the third book.!

    1. There will be a family tree along with Book 3. The thought was not to spoil things in Inheritance and The Mirror by listing names before you read the book.

  79. Question on “The Mirror”- how many pages is it??? My copy from Barnes and Noble stops on page 433, but I’ve seen that it is 448. Am I missing 15 pages of story ?????? I’ll be really sad if I am…

    1. I checked with the publisher (I don’t have a paper copy of the book). 448 pages includes the copyright and extra pages. If your book ends with “While the house filled with their cries, their sobs, their pleas, as despair clogged the air, laughter—wild, free, mad—rolled over them like thunder.” You’ve got the right number of readable pages.

  80. I have reread book 1 and finished book 2, both in audiobook version. I figure to relisten to both again after I have book 3 in my hands, so to soeak . I’m so glad I listened to the audio version because the narrator is absolutely fantastic! I love the different character voices (+Owen’s drawl). I love these two books so much, the characters stayed with me long after I finished. I think my favorite part of the story is the overall emotional connection I felt re the family bonds and the depth of ALL the friendships. Both of these books truly are outstanding versions of feel good books. I’m loving Owen and Cleo just as much as Sonya and Trey. What a great example of frienship. I look forward to the third book, and I already know I don’t want the series to end. Thank you Nora and Laura for all you both do for the fans!

  81. I have a small confusion. In chapter 28 of The Inheritence, it says that Michael Poole, who married Patricia, was the older brother of Lisbeth (one of the brides who died) and the father of Charlie (Clover’s husband). It also says in some places of The Mirror that the curse skipped a generation because Patricia refused to get married or live at the Manor. In fact, Hester went to lengths to scare Patricia. My question is that, if the curse was that only one bride in each generation died, then there was no reason for Patricia to be afraid since Lissy (her sister in law, hence of the same generation) had already died. And thus, no generation skipped the curse.

    Am I reading something incorrectly? Can the wonderful readers please help?

    1. I listened to the audiobook so I don’t have page numbers for you, however in Chapter Four of The Mirror there are at least two mentions of “Michael Poole Jr.”.

      One mention towards the beginning of Chapter Four: Sonya tells Cleo, “When Patricia Youngsboro married Michael Poole Jr., she didn’t have her wedding or reception here…”.

      This is just an assumption but I believe it is correct: Lisbeth’s older brother was Michael Poole Sr. The timing works. Michael Poole Sr. likely married and could have had a child (Michael Jr.) before Lisbeth died in 1916. Michael Poole Jr. would then be of the same generation as Patricia.

  82. My mom has been reading NR for my whole life and kept recommending one of her recent series to me. I misremembered which and ended up with Inheritance and LOVED it. I’m blown away! The series Mom wanted me to read was Awakening, and that was wonderful too. Just powered through The Mirror and can’t wait to see how the story wraps up. I’m so glad I finally listened to my mom and started reading Nora!

    I thought that Martha (Drew’s adoptive mom) and Clover’s scene together was so beautiful. Lots of great heartfelt Clover moments throughout.

  84. Just finished reading the second book and Loved it !! I have read most of Nora’s trilogys and quartets and just wanted to share how I found this one different. Usually in the second book, the second couple takes center stage, and a lot of it is their point of view. But in this one, the story stays with Sonya, though Cleo and Owen do feature more.
    Also, usually one can guess who the next couple is going to be, some names are mentioned, maybe they meet casually and you can see the sparks. In this one I am clueless. The third guy could be Owen’s brother, but who will he be paired with ??

    Can’t wait…
    Reading Inn Boonsboro trilogy now bcos this Owen reminded me of that Owen.

    1. This trilogy doesn’t include three relationships. Just Sonya and Trey, Cleo and Owen and all the lost brides with their grooms.
