Please Stop and Think

  1. I hate that you are feeling this way when you should be enjoying your Thanksgiving preparations and the day itself. Some people are never satisfied and would find something to complain about no matter what you did. I, among most, appreciate the work that you do and am amazed that you actually publish FOUR books a year. I love your writing styles and eagerly await your next books. Thank you for all the pleasure you’ve given me through your talent. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

  2. Have a Happy Thanksgiving. I for one cannot believe how fast you write and release new books. Amazing books at that.

  3. I just wish I was sitting down to eat with you and yours! You are my favorite author, but I read lots of other authors. And if I am just jonesing for a Nora book I will reread an old favorite. Just let all the negativity go and have a great Thanksgiving with your loved ones!

  4. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Nora! As for me, I’m amazed and grateful that you are able to produce the number of books you do. They are so much better than the majority of what’s out there. I re-read them over and over again, because they’re so good. I feel like I know the characters as if they are real people, and feel like I know the settings, even though I’ve never been there. You’re my favorite.

  5. Good gods. I cannot believe the gall of some! Am also completely awed that you have the patience to explain AGAIN to these cretins that you’re one human. Beyond annoying, don’t know how you stand it. I am happy to take the opportunity to say thank you thank x a gazillion again. Your output is light years beyond prodigious. So, buckets of gratitude from here.

    1. I agree Nora is intitaled to a life beyond writing while I like a lot of her fans anxiously await each new book that come out I would never to presume to hasten the progress of such a talented writer. God speed and Happy Holidays to Nora and her family.

  6. Happy Thanksgiving to the author who has brought me countless hours of reading happiness. Who’s books I reread over and over. May you and yours have a wonderful family day.

  7. Have a well deserved Thanksgiving! You are amazing to write 2 full length novels each year. We love you. Happy Thanksgiving!

  8. I appreciate all the good books you write! I keep reading them over & over & over again just love them!! Happy Thanksgiving to you & family

  9. I appreciate all the good books you write! I keep reading them over & over & over again just love them!! Happy Thanksgiving to you & family

  10. I know you don’t need it, but I’m pissed off on your behalf. For some mindless dolt to complain about not having books faster really burns my toast. You already produce several series. That in itself is amazing. And that you create multiple new books year after year is jaw dropping. Again, I know you can defend yourself very well, but please, ignore the clods!

    1. Carol I love that phrasing, burns my toast. Made me smile. Happy Thanksgiving!

  11. Happy Thanksgiving! I think you and your books are amazing. I work for a major book retailer and can testify that most authors take a year or more to write 1 book, the fact that we get 4 amazing books a year is something to be Very Thankful for. So I am Thankful for you Nora and the wonderful talent that you share with us. Have a wonderful holiday season with your family.

  12. Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy your time with your family. 🍁🍂🦃🥧 I love your trilogies and am eagerly awaiting Book 3 of Lost Bride. But I knew when I read The Mirror that it would be a year before I got the next book. Those whiners can just wait until all 3 are published if they have a problem. Next year I’ll read the first 2 books again right before the 3rd is released. And like this year, I’ll probably get up at midnight, devour the book and then listen to the audible. Your work brings such joy. Try to ignore the complainers. I, for one, am happy to read anything you write at whenever you want to write. I’ve been reading your books since Irish Thoroughbred. I’m retired now and do things at a slower pace. You are entitled to work at whatever pace!!! Take the time to cook, garden, be with friends and family.

  13. Given the quality of your books I am more than willing to wait until Next November for the third book in the trilogy all this means is that as the release date nears, I’ll have a chance to read books 1 and 2 again so I am up to speed when I read the third and I can enjoy the books all over again.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoy your time with your family.

  14. ❤️ Thank you for writing many of my favorite books. I am thrilled you continue to do so. However, you must take care to have a good life, or what is it all for?

    Happy Thanksgiving.

  15. Grateful that you share your talents! It’s such that the books keep on giving new things with each reread. I have read them each many times over the years.
Your works are first rate, and first rate takes as long as it takes.
Thank you so very much Nora, and Happy Thanksgiving!

  16. Nora, I have come to the conclusion that people just like to bitch. There just downright mean and nasty. Where I come from we call people like that a Jagoff, you might have heard of the word. LOL! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family and thank you for all the wonderful stories. 🦃

  17. I’m so thankful for the imagination food you provide! It’s always delicious.

  18. Thank you for the joy of reading your great stories
I will keep rereading until your latest JD Robb book comes out

  19. I get so much enjoyment from your novels, as Nora and as J D Robb. Getting lost in your stories has helped me through some tough times. I am on my 6th rereading of the In Death series! I am greatly enjoying the Lost Brides series and looking forward to the Seven Rings. In the meantime time I will revisit completed series, just to say hello and visit with favorite characters once again. Thank you, Nora for all you do. May you, your family, Laura and her family all have a blessed holiday. Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

  20. I am thankful to be able to read and reread your books all through the year. New and old books are treasures to enjoy. Sending you and your family Happy Thanksgiving wishes.

  21. What is wrong with people? Do they not understand that the reason they enjoy the books so much is because of that same creative process they complain about? The research that goes into the books and the absolutely fantastic creative mind that generates all these books year after year boggle my mind. Myself, as much as I look forward to every book, I find myself delaying reading because I know it will be difficult to put down! You have a fantastic Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays with family as it should be, Nora and know that you have hordes of fans that adore you and your brilliant, creative mind!

  22. It is crazy that people still whine about this stuff, and that you have to respond to that crap. I’m in the last 50 pages of The Mirror and I’m loving it. I can’t wait for the last book and will enjoy your three other books (as well as many others) while I wait for it to be released next November.

  23. I am thankful that I’m not the only one in the kitchen tonight, though my prep was certainly easier. I have 6 slaves, I mean hockey players between 18-24, who are looking forward to a day of family made by circumstance for the season…and to some extent, helping orchestrate a roughly 5pm sit down time.

I am thankful to the first NR book I ever read “Montana Sky.” And continue to be thankful for her skill and imagination. Time between new releases gives me time to re-re-read (some many many times re read) favorites, then target out re reading for the series that will issue a new piece soon.

As a fan of decades (nearly 4 of them), I have no grumbles. I look at the website to determine when the prep to reread should commence.

No gumble, but a hmmmm? I know Seth’s story was a special case as it spoke to you. Kinda wondering if maybe Salvador & Derek have spoken to you about a Talamh home coming? 🙂 Breen & Keegan might be wondering how all those handfastings and weddings can work together. 🙂

Truly happily in love with all books written! Thank you, Nora, for your joyous imagination and skill. I “see” everything when you write it! Thank you, Laura, for sharing and leading us.

    HAPPIEST OF HOLIDAY SEASONS,
    Lori J

  24. I hope you had a glass of wine while resting and/or while signing the tubs of books. I, personally, save your trilogy books to read until after the third one is published. I love your books, and if I need a fix while waiting for the new book, I reread one of your older books. You constantly amaze me with all that you do – gardening, baking pies from scratch, spring cleaning, finding time to enjoy time with your family, writing four books a year. Have an absolutely wonderful Thanksgiving day with your family!

    1. I do this too. I get antsy waiting, so I wait to read the new trilogy until it’s complete. It’s awful to demand an author give up her free time. People are crazy. I love Nora’s books. My favorite months are February and November when the new Eve Dallas books come out. And summer when the stand-alone comes out. The anticipation is part of the fun. I’ve been a fan since picking up one of your books as a teen because the author’s name is the same as mine. Back then the only other Nora I knew was my mom.

  25. Thank you. Thank you for writing all the wonderful books that you do. Some of us do gobble them down because we are eager to read the story, learn who the characters are and what moves them. But those of us who read them fast the first time will very, very likely read that book again in a more leisurely manner, To enjoy it again and meet those characters and understand them more deeply. So thank you for giving us that. Hoping you and your family enjoy a Happy Thanksgiving.

  26. Complain about it taking a year for a new book? Good grief. I’m honestly shocked with how many books you write in a year! How many wonderful, amazing books on top of *gasp* having an actual life. Rather than complain about your timeline of releases, I say thank you. Thank you for every book you write, no matter how long it takes you. My mom, rest her soul, loved your books too. We used to love talking about each new one. So, a part of me “talks” to her after I finish a new story you’ve written and it makes me feel her just a little. Thank you

  27. I am in aw of you! You write more than one book a year and I wait patiently for each and everyone of them. The wonderful creativity you have is true gift. Thank you so much for the many hours of joyful reading!
    Happy Thanksgiving 🦃🍁

  28. I’m sorry people are so rude. Yes I love the trilogies, but that means you wait for the next to be written. People want everything right now and don’t think about how that happens. It’s a real shame this need for immediate gratification. I am so glad that you use your imagination to entertain us with your stories and I am grateful for you and your stories. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

  29. I don’t understand why people have to complain. I counted and you release one single title, one trilogy book, and 2 In Death books per year. I have no complaints. I am looking forwards to the third Bride book.
I just read the last two books of the Dragon Heart Trilogy. I’ve read them two or three times already. I read those last two cover to cover e-book because the hardcovers are in storage, almost non stop.

  30. Thanks for all you do and thanks for giving each book your best. All those who bitch about the time between Trilogy releases can stick it where the sun don’t shine. They have NO idea what goes into writing a book. My first one took 6 years. The second one is in the final editing stages.

Have a fantastic holiday season. Absolutely, all the best… and thank you for the wonderful stories…💜💜

  31. I sometimes save the first books in a trilogy for just before the final book comes out. I have to hide them if I’m doing that! Other times I just go for it and then reread them as each new one comes out. I love getting lost in the worlds you create! I can’t imagine complaining or getting mad and demanding more than we’ve been given, when it’s been given. I’m sure the majority of your readers appreciate ALL that you do for us!

That being said, have a Happy Thanksgiving! Bask in your time with family and friends and making and baking all those wonderful treats for everyone. I made an orange cranberry sauce when I did all my canning this fall and we had it for our Thanksgiving last month (Canada). We have 3 jars left for Christmas!

Thank you for what you’ve added to my life!
    Sheryl

  32. I am thankful for the many hours of reading pleasure you have given me over the years. Enjoy your day with your family!

  33. Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy time with your friends and family! I love your books. Do I hate that I have to wait a year for the next book? Yes. Do I understand why I have to wait? Yes. It’s a process. I know I should wait until all 3 come out before I start reading them, but when one of your new books is released, I have to read it right away. I can’t wait! Please keep doing what you’re doing, because you do it well.

  34. I fully support you in having boundaries and grateful for all the times your books gave solace and escape when life was just too much.

Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving of family, love and gratitude.

  35. Writing is your job but, shouldn’t be your whole life. Enjoy your personal time and family!
    Happy Thanksgiving 😊

  36. Happy ThAnksgiving Nora to you and your family. Enjoy the day. I’m reading the MIRROW slowly and enjoying it soooo much. Thanks for another great trilogy. Complainers are’nt even worth a minute to read what they say. Keep on writing.

  37. Love you, Nora. I appreciate what you do so much. I’m a quilter, and I know how long it takes to create a “masterpiece” that everybody else thinks should take “hours”.

  38. Nora, I’m thankful for you and your work ethic. Love your books! Enjoy your time with family and friends. You more than deserve it. Happy Thanksgiving!

  39. I’m reread Inheritance and I’m just finishing the Mirror. I was going to try and hold off until next fall, but come on, never happened. I really enjoyed Inheritance, there were things that I had forgotten. And am enjoying the Mirror. When I’m reading Owen’s words I hear Jason Kelces voice 🤷🏻‍♀️. I love both books and can’t wait for next November. I can understand your annoyance, I would be so annoyed if someone was telling how to do my job. Nora and Laura, I hope you and your families have a great Thanksgiving.

  40. You are Wonderful! I love and enjoy your process and screw those that can’t! Thank you for sharing your creativity! Have a very wonderful Thanksgiving 🦃 and a joyous Christmas!!!🎄

  41. Nora, we love you! For me, I am amazed at how many books you produce in a year! I don’t like having to wait, just because I want to know how things go. 🤗🤗 I will continue to read what you put out, and wait, however impatiently, for the next book. Enjoy your family, and your you time, You deserve it!

  42. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. I love your books, the stand alone, the in Death books and the trilogies. I wait until all three books are available, and then read them one after the other. Thank you for sharing your talent and the wonderful stories you create. Enjoy the holidays with your family and loved ones. May God Bless.

  43. Nora, have a blessed Thanksgiving with your loved ones. It’s always a big job. I make my pies from scratch too including the crust. It’s worth the time and effort. I say ignore the haters and their comments. They need to read something else while they wait. You have given us so many books I always find something good to reread. I like to savor a new book myself. When the dinner is all done, relax and enjoy the family. Be well!

  44. I am just thankful for you sharing your talent! I have been enjoying your books since I was a teenager and can’t wait for more, but all in your time! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

  45. I love your books and am one who devours the book but will not ever complain about the wait as I am just so grateful there is such an amazing author to make me fall in love and laugh and cry with such amazing and complex characters that feel more like family

  46. I’m so sick of those readers too. They are not true fans of the author or the books

  47. There is a lot to be thankful for this year. We are still part of this wonderful community…blood flowing as normal and “faculties” intact. We have our power back on after a week off due to the “bomb” cyclone. My husband is brining our turkey so we will eat some tasty food. And I have just enjoyed a hot bubble bath. So we are glad to wish you, your family and friends, and Nora’s community members a very happy, peaceful, warm Thanksgiving!

  48. Nora, I happily wait for your next books. Hoping for some new witchy ones – they are my faves. As a full time teacher I am working on republishing my first book with Archway rather then self publishing on Amazon and working on book two in the trilogy, I completely understand what you’re saying. Take time, enjoy. We’ll still be here when you’re next one comes out. Much love.

  49. I am So very sorry you have to deal with this kind of thing its annoying (to say the least)
& i think its very disrespectful too from supposed fans of your work. The wait only makes the receiving all the more exciting & fun 😁 Thank you Nora 😚

  50. These people should try being a fan of George R R Martin‘s books, it might give them some perspective. Nora, you‘re already working at a ridiculously fast pace given the quality and scope of your work. You give us several new publications a year – at a time in your life and career where anyone would be perfectly justified in sitting back and just enjoying the fruit of your labour. I deeply appreciate that you keep going and admire your apparently endless well of ideas. Thank you. Greetings from across the pond and enjoy your family time – and all that food – today!

  51. Have a great Thanksgiving and forget the whiners as they’re not worth the hassle. 🦃🌽🥧🍷

  52. Have a wonderful holiday! Ignore the naysayers: they aren’t worth your time. I’ve been reading your books from the very beginning and think your work ethic beats all the rest. Put your feet up, take a deep breath and hand out big hugs. You deserve it!

  53. Happy Thanksgiving and thank you once again for your hard creative work. Blessings on you and your family.

  54. And then that same reader will complain that it’s too rushed and shallow a story, no character development, phoned in plot, etc, etc.

Grateful to get 4 books a year from you. I follow an author that I wait 5-6yrs between books. Average wait is one book a year. And then the author whose hometown got hit by a hurricane. Had to wait an extra year. After being the coast guard contact and helping with clean up, he was back writing. I certainly hope his fans weren’t complaining.

  55. You are so appreciated for sharing your gift with us. Your books take me to another place where I can enter a different world. Thank you.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

  56. Have a very Happy and well deserved Holiday with your family during this Thanksgiving time. I am thankful for you not only for your sharing your stories with us but for sharing your family values and family time as you do in your letters. Everyone needs to have their time with family and friends. I always enjoy hearing from both you and Laura and your whole team. ENJOY YOUR DAYS WITH THOSE WHO MATTER THE MOST – OUR FAMILIES AND GIVING THANKS TO GOD FOR OUR TIME TOGETHER!

  57. I am enjoying listening to The Mirror and might read/listen to everything again multiple times during the year along with all of your other trilogies and standalone books. I’m just so glad that you are continuing to write as you’ve been my crème brûlée of books since 1997. Happy Thanksgiving Nora! ❤️

  58. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! There are more of us who love your books, can’t wait for the next one(s) to come out, and totally appreciate your art. And that’s what it is, art! You be you. And now I’ll go back to my second reading of The Mirror. SO good! Thank you.

  59. Wishing you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving! I’ve never understood people who seem to truly believe the world rotates for them and them alone. I visited – once – a solo (unauthorized?) NR/JDR page on Facebook that turned out to be a user’s podium to bemoan there was no meaning in life if she didn’t have your new book to read. Others were commiserating with her – was she on the waiting list at the library? Had the bookstore run out of copies? Meanwhile, I was using Google for what it’s there for and commented that you didn’t have a book due out for release for another four months. That’s when she declared you didn’t get them out fast enough. I could nearly hear the gasp through the comments box. Boy, did that group give her grief. I didn’t make another comment, but I did stick around to watch the regulars pretty much rub her face in it. At least that group was mostly sane enough to realize, but I wish you didn’t have to deal with those few that don’t. Thank you for the many, many stories you’ve shared with all of us.

  60. I enjoy your books very much and am more than willing to wait a year for part three or for any other book! Take the time for you and your family.
To enjoy time with family and friends and things we enjoy gives energy and is super importante for our well being.
Thank you for your books and the pleasure i have in reading them.
    Happy thanksgiving
    .

  61. Please ignore the idiots who complain about the time lag between books. I am grateful and in awe that you continue to give us four quality books each year. Thank you. Please thank BW for dragging the books home to be signed. I have a nice collection of them and have given many others as gifts.

Enjoy Thanksgiving with your family and friends. After everyone has devoured the meal, grab BW and a glass of wine and relax. Thanks for everything.

  62. First Happy Thanksgiving. I have recently finished The Mirror and thoroughly enjoyed it. I will re-read the first 2 books again next October so I am ready for book 3. Honestly you have the most enormous and amazing back catalogue of books – if I only read Nora Roberts/J D Robb I could still re-read books I have mostly forgotten since the last read. I cannot believe you manage to write as many books as you do while keeping the quality so high. Keep on doing what you’re doing and ignore the idiots! Thank you for the stories.

  63. Happy Thanksgiving! I love your books. It’s hard to find another author who is comparable to you. Thank you!

  64. I got The Mirror on Saturday from the Library. I was lucky to pick it up Early . It dawned on me as I checked it out that you probably have already finished writing/fine tuning the last book in the trilogy &are going to send it to the editor/publisher to do what they do . You did mention you write a year in advance & I can see that with 4 novels coming out in 2025.
You deserve time off . You have a career you are very talented at & readers new & old enjoy . A really good story to hold people’s attention takes time to write, & to write 4 in a year is an awesome accomplishment. I read a lot of books . Some authors do one a year or every two years & some write anywhere between 1-4 a year & some under another name in the 2-4 a year they write. Writing is a craft . Like all crafts it takes time to get it the way it flows.
As 2024 comes to a close & the first JD Robb book will come out in February 2025 . I will wait patiently for your stand alone in May 2025 , the next JD Robb in September & then the conclusion to the Bride Trilogy a year from now. I just hope I am quick enough to get my name early on a library list , which can have up to 200 people on it. My curiosity is what the new trilogy will be in 2026 .
Enjoy your family it is your right & responsibility to yourself to take a break. Have a fabulous Thanksgiving today & weekend.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving to Laura too who does a great job keeping us informed
To everyone on here Have a Happy Thanksgiving

  65. Sad that you need to say this , Nora
There are so many great authors out there – particularly female – and we need to give them all some of our attention in between waiting for the next book from you
I hope you enjoy your family time , now , and during the holidays

  66. Happy Thanksgiving Nora to you and your beautiful family. I have read your books especially love the series . We all know that they only come out 1 a year. I will say I can’t wait till next year for the final book because it was so good so far but all your books are amazing and I love them. I am so sorry people act the way they do because you are doing a great job and family always, always comes first. Thanks for all your wonderful books . Enjoy your Thanksgiving with your family!

  67. Enjoy your holiday and ignore those who want speedy results. I love all your books, and I can wait patiently. For those who are in a rush, you all need to know Nora puts out a novel, a trilogy and two Eve Dallas books. every year. More than enough.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

  68. I am from Ottawa Canada. I am 63 years old and I have been reading your book for over 20 years. I love each and every one. I anxiously await the new ones. I work full time and is a mother of two and grandmother of two.
If any asked me what my favourite books are. They are always Nora’s books.
Great writing takes time. Please take all the time you need, we are getting the greatest gift of all.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your lovely family.

  69. Oh, the luxury of homemade pies! happy Thanksgiving…and what an absolute luxury it is to be surrounded by family and love!

  70. Every time people think that they are “entitled”( yep, that word) with the right to moan about having to actually wait for the next book in a series, or Netflix episode in a series, or anything, for that matter, I laugh. Do the ones in question even stop to realize that you put out a lot more books per year than almost anyone? Waiting is a good thing people.

  71. Hello lovely lady!
Big hugs for sharing your stories with the world! I for one am very grateful for the years I have had the pleasure of loving your stories and characters you’ve shared. Your assistant is also a rock star for you in all she does. Have a great holiday you’ve more than earned a private life!
I’m already on your email list and loving that you’ve shared Clovers list. I can delete the list I’ve been making to listen to her song choices. Happy dance ladies!

  72. We’re living in a world of entitlement and instant gratification. Do I love waiting a year for a book? Of course not. I would prefer that, in that magic, mysterious world of authors, wonderfully written books appeared like, well, magic. But they don’t. And because those wonderful books that I love are written by real humans, with real lives, I’m more than willing to wait. It’s worth it. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

  73. In this world of social media and now AI I feel like people want instant results and get upset and throw tantrums when they don’t get it. I love following you as an author and a person. Your family is amazing and I have loved to watch your family grow. I personally love to wait bc it gives me a chance to explore a new adventure and then do a quick re-read before release dates. Thank you for sharing your creativity and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

  74. Happy Thanksgiving Nora! I look forward to your books whenever they come out. I look forward to the new books every year and in between, I revisit and remember old acquaintances in your published books. No matter how many times I reread them, I learn or feel something new. Thank you.

  75. I’m amazed and thankful you can write as much as you now do!
    Happy Thanksgiving!

  76. So glad to read (and not surprised) you take care of yourself. How else can you be a healthy, well-developed person. I love your books. Eve and Roark lead the pack. With you taking one year to write the next book in the trilogy, it gives me the chance to read the first two books again. I believe that is a gift for me.

  77. Dear Ms. Roberts,
I have been reading your books for a long time (I am 67), and I want to say that you are so worth waiting for. I treasure the past books and anticipate the new. When I don’t feel like doing anything else, I can read a Nora Roberts book and forget the world. Thank you from my heart, for continuing to write your amazing stories.
    Sincerely,
    Trish, your very appreciative reader

  78. Thank you for all your hard work. I love all your books, from your Silhouette days to today. Have a blessed holiday season.

  79. The best part about the books coming out so far apart is that I forget the plots so I get to reread the prior ones before starting the new release. It’s like getting a new bonus Nora book! I thoroughly enjoyed rereading The Inheritance, and next year I’ll love rereading it and The Mirror. Something to look forward to!

  80. Happy Thanksgiving Nora and family. Glad you are taking time to enjoy family and friends. Thank you for all the great books you write.

  81. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! I’m sorry you have to deal directly with the entitlement of so many. I’m amazed by your production level – the completely different genres that live in your head – and just look forward to the next book. I’m a HUGE In Death fan, and eagerly await the 2 days a year those come out. I used to read them in one sitting, but now I read the previous one on release day, then spread the new one out over a few days, since I know the next one is 6 months away. As you can see, there are plenty of us who just love what you write, and enjoy the worlds you create.

  82. Thank you, Nora. Love your books and your dedication. I so look forward to your books throughout the year. The wait is part of the process. Oh, love the Spotify playlist!

    Have a lovely day today!

  83. Sure, the waiting can be hard, but haven’t the whiners ever heard of anticipation? Having something really good to look forward to is a plus, especially on those “down” days that come along all too often. And there’s always rereading…

  84. Nora hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Also Happy Thanksgiving to the wonderful Laura who keeps things moving for you. First of all I am a longtime reader of yours I have been reading your books since your Silhouette days. I am also a total book nerd I read at least 8 to 10 books a month. Would I love it if the Authors I followed put out books every few months of course I would but that being said I would never expect that from someone. Creativity and art take time and if you don’t have that it becomes just commercialized crap.

  85. And that’s why – all these decades later – I hold your books in my hands (no matter when the hell they come) and smile, grateful that there’s another one to read. Love you to bits, Wym

  86. Thank you so much for all the books you write. I enjoy them so many times and they never get old.
So glad you’re able to spend time with family! Enjoy it, we never know how long we have for that.
You are so appreciated and I’m very thankful to have your stories that enrich my life and add to my enjoyment.
    Happy Thanksgiving
    Be good to yourself!

  87. I’m always in awe of how many books you have written, and how every one is a guaranteed well crafted story. You characters are always driven and hard-working and I am sure that is a reflection of you. Happy Thanksgiving!

  88. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family and entire team. I am so grateful for your creativity and hard work so that we can enjoy your fabulous stories. Your books have given me a place to escape to when times are tough or a place to relax when times are busy or places and adventures to explore even just for fun. Your books have always been my favorites and a life line when I was going through the worst times in my life. I am so grateful for every book you write and hope you keep being inspired to write for years to come. I’m so grateful for you.

  89. Enjoy your day, Nora! We will wait. The important thing is that you have a life and family. And I’m impressed by all you do single-handedly!

  90. Happy Thanksgiving and so glad for the stories you write. They have given me hours of pleasure.

  91. Gosh is it me or as we move forward in today’s world individuals are just becoming more and more arsy! When they are at work does someone tell them to work faster, produce more, hurry it up!!!! All good things come to those who wait. I’ve never finished a Nora Roberts/jd.robb book without a smile on my face. Just chill people.

  92. We appreciate all that you do. We tend to forget you are not a Marvel character that has superpowers & is invincible . You are a human who has the superpower for writing a compelling story that we devour.
REST. ENJOY. THANK YOU. Don’t forget the pie 😊

  93. No matter how much we love an author we cannot just read only one as it unfair on them and us. They are human they can only write so much a year and still have a life as well. At the moment I am reading a Karen Rose book it’s an older book and I have forgotten the ending so I have only some hmmm moments thru it. Linda Howard is another is other author I like but sometimes find harder to settle into and have to make myself stay with the book.
My husband has brought me The Mirror for Christmas so you know what I will be doing boxing day.
Nora will always be number 1 author but there are other great authors to keep us happy because we read faster than Nora can ever write.

  94. Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy your family and know that some of us think that however long is takes for the next book, it’s worth the wait. I am amazed at how many books you write a year.

  95. Happy Thanksgiving to you, your family and the wonderful people at Turn the Page. I never mind waiting for the next in series, it gives me time to reread my favorites and maybe even get introduced to some new authors. I have friends who are authors and I know how hard they work at their craft-it is not an easy task. I’m in awe of your, and their, talent. I enjoyed attending book signings at Turn the Page, pre 2020, and hope to attend future events. Thanks for all the wonderful stories Nora!

  96. I think publishing 4 books a year is astonishing! Several authors I follow do maybe 1 book a year at most.

Your character development is beyond any other author that I read.

Please keep writing as long as you still get something back from it.

Faithful reader of almost 30 years.

  97. I loved book 2 in this trilogy. Was it a long wait? Definitely! But, I’ve read other books by you and by other authors in the meantime. It’s it a long wait until Book 3? Yes! But, guess what? I’m going to read a lot of books by you and other authors in the meantime. I’ve already decided that when Book 3 comes out I’m going to put off reading it until after I’ve reread Inheritance and The Mirror … for the second time and I’ve already reread both.
Thank you Nora, for all the years of exceptional fiction you’ve delivered to me.

  98. *SIGH* Some people are never happy. Maybe they should try writing a book and learning it’s not something you can do with a snap of your fingers or the wiggle of your nose.

As much as I adore your books, I’ve gotten to the point that when I know it’s a trilogy I won’t ready any of them until all three are released. I started that habit after reading the finding the first two books of the Keys trilogy and just got lucky that I discovered them just before the third book was released. It’s not just a matter the wait, but the fact that I no longer can keep track of the plot lines as I’m a voracious reader, but my mind is aging along with my mind.

And there are some that I re-read. I’m working on my fourth or fifth reading of the In Death Series. Ahhh, so many books, so little time.

  99. What, you mean you can’t do everything at once and all the time? But, Nora, you’re a writing goddess–say it ain’t so! Nope, I’m kidding. I know you have more of a life than writing the books that I wait anxiously for 4 times a year. And I knew, when I hit the end of “The Mirror” that I’d survive a year’s wait for the next step–yeah, I heaved a deep sigh & griped a bit in the heart, but I knew. I sure enjoyed it, tho’ & dang, I wanted to know the next part because you’ve gotten very good at stopping at a “thrilling moment!” And St. Martins has to publish more than just your books–they’re a large business–only makes sense. (and as a retired librarian who handled purchases for a university library–I know they publish a lot!) Okay, enough of that! Just saying–if Inheritance is any indication, I’ll be rereading The Mirror multiple times over the coming year as well as many other NR titles–I have the whole back list in pbk & ebk. Same with the JDRobbs!

At any rate, I hope you & yours had a wonderful day yesterday, not just eating but visiting & whatever else you all do between meals. When the whole family was here, we’d play cards or Apples to Apples for a few hours. That was such fun! We played dominos yesterday with the football games on in the background. And I hope your hand has recovered from signing 60 books. I’d have to take breaks–my handwriting wouldn’t be recognizable otherwise at the end!

  100. Just started The Mirror this morning. Looking forward to it and I’m sure it will be worth the wait- as are all your books! Not sure show you write all you do.

  101. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving and all I can say is thank you for all the wonderful books and places that they take me. I absolutely love it. Don’t work too hard and enjoy this time with your family.

  102. Loved The Mirror! Worth waiting for, as I know book 3 will be.

  103. Thank you for all you do! Yes, I am one of your readers who devours one of your new books in one day but I am also one of your readers who is willing to wait for the next one to come out! I wait for the book to go on pre-order and immediately order so I will have it upon its release. This enable me to pull out the previous book(s) in the series to re-read to refresh my mind on the story and then continue to the newest! I love your books – you really know how to pull in the reader! Yes, I am anxiously waiting for the next book in this series but time goes fast!

  104. I just finished reading Inheritance and will start The Mirror tomorrow. Been a fan since the 1990’s when you started writing. Every book you wrote I have read. I love the trilogies you have written and I confess that I buy them and wait for the last one so I can read them right in a row but for the first time I read Inheritance and will read The Mirror next because in talking with friends they loved Inheritance so much I couldn’t wait to read it. I was blown away by this book. The ingenuity it takes and the actual imagination and creativity of this was outstanding. I have enjoyed all your books…some more than others but this book was such a treat. It totally grabbed me from the first page and I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to read The Mirror. Saying all this, I would never ever complain about waiting for the next book to be published in a series. That is so rude and disrespectful. However, the internet has become rude and disrespectful so no surprise there. Your books are a wonder and a place to go when you want to escape to a place that transports you to another time and place. Nora..you are a gift that keeps on giving.

  105. Hope you had a happy Thanksgiving! Everyone should be thankful for the consistent and quality books you put out every year. You could be like George RR Martin and go 10 +years between books, I’m still waiting for the last two in the Game of Thrones saga!

  106. I have just started The Mirror and cannot wait to dive back in. I love love love to read your books and though I wait with impatience for the next one (whether a trilogy or single) I am amazed that you are able to crank out so many books over so many years! I hope you take ALL THE TIME YOU NEED to write exactly the books you want to as well as live a life you love. I can wait! When I am jonesing for your next book I just pick up another of yours and read it again. Works like a charm!
Happy start to the holiday season!

  107. I love your books and I will wait patiently for the next book in your Lost Bride series! I just reread the earlier book or books to refresh my memory of all the details in the books.
    Thank you.

  108. It is fair to wait however long it takes for the next book in a series. No explanation is required. Expecting instant gratification does not mean it has to be available. The only way you could pander to those readers would be to withhold all books in the series and release them at once. Please don’t do that. I am sure there are many like me that look forward to rereading the earlier releases just before the new one comes out.
I hope you and your family have enjoyed your Thanksgiving holiday.

  109. Nora, I’ve been a fan for almost 25 years. You do you and don’t let the complainers ruin your day. They should be happy with what they have. I enjoy your books, in fact, I read little beyond you. I wait for the paperback versions and while I wait, I reread your vast and awesome library of books. I have two bookcases and another 4 shelf unit filled with all or mostly your books.
We met last May and I gave you my book: To The Moon And Back. From one writer to another, write on! Be well and happy post Thanksgiving and early Merry Christmas! 🎁
    All the best.

  110. I love you, Nora. You have given me so many hours of reading pleasure. While I wait for your next book, I’ll reread some of my favorites. Hope your Thanksgiving was full of great food and wonderful family memories.

  111. I know that posts are monitored, or read before they’re posted. I feel it’s a credit to you and Laura that you allow negative comments as well as all the complimentary comments. It speaks to the realness about this site and the willingness to engage with your readers.

It’s too bad that the negativity has to overshadow all the wonderful complimentary comments. I’m really hoping that some of the negative comments are really comments meant to be positive but are not articulated well in written form. I think texts have taken the emotion out of writing in this format… probably wishful thinking…

In any case, I hope that you and yours have a wonderful holiday season! And thanks for the wonderful hours of reading/listening enjoyment you give in my life! I also listen/read other authors, but you truly are my go to one. I’m also looking forward to the final book in this series. I have enjoyed this trilogy, and it’s becoming one of my favorites.

Cheers again to a wonderful holiday season!

  112. Also one quick question, Nora, do you use lard when making your pie crusts from scratch? My mom used to make the best pie crusts. even my Grandma and my aunts couldn’t replicate it… I just buy the pie crust, since my aunt told me they were just fine!…lol! All my parents, aunts and grandparents are long gone now, but every time I make a pie…not totally from scratch 🙂 I think of all of them and it’s such a wonderful memory!

  113. Also one quick question, Nora, do you use lard when making your pie crusts from scratch? 114. I’m one of those people that tend to gobble up books I like in a day or two. Heck, even King’s The Stand, I read in about 24 hours when still a child. I’m a fast reader, period. Hence, why I wait patiently until you finish your trilogies and then buy them all at once instead. Because I know myself too well.

I rarely read any work in progress because I know how frustrated I get when reaching the end. Those complaining should know themselves better and not read the series until it’s completed instead of whining.

  115. Nora, you are a work horse! No one can accuse you of not giving it your all in everything you set your sights on! No one should be pushing you to rush your timeline! Ugh! You have a full and wonderful life of both work AND play! Enjoy! We will happily follow your lead and read the books that you put out, when you choose to put them out! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! (Sorry for all of the exclamation points, but I can’t help myself. I am passionate for you!)

  116. Thanks for sharing your stories. They bring fun and joy to a crazy world!

  117. The best books are the ones that take time and are created out of love and pure talent. I am thrilled that I even have the opportunity to read your books! Thank you so much for creating multiple worlds that have become quite familiar to me. I don’t think any of your books are long enough, but I understand you can’t make 3000 page novels because I’m addicted to yet another of your fantastic heroines. I have read many series where there were multiple years long wait and we are all blessed that we get your books so often! Thank you a million times Nora!

  118. Because I know how long it will be until the last book of the trilogy, I’m very tempted to wait on the second book until the third comes out. It’s not like I don’t have more books I read. Lol even Nora books to read!

  119. I am so sorry you are feeling this way. I love each and everyone of your books both nora roberts and jd robb. I don’t care how long I have to wait because to me you always put out quality. What some of the winers don’t get is that if they feel this way then why start a trilogy till all three books is out. You have been my fav author since I started reading adult romance. Take your time and forget about them. Any true fans know your schedule has always been consistent the last several years….. JD robb Feb in death, standalone may, in death Sept and trilogy nov….I loke knowing what to expect and can’t wait to continue reading and rereading all your books for many years to come hope you had a good thanksgiving

  120. I put the next release date on my calendar. Then when January and August roll around I can see that the next “in Death” is coming. and it makes me smile.

I have been busy, checked my calendar and STOPPED what I was doing to pop into Amazon and download my surprise!

Hey, is Belle old enough to contribute to an investigation?

Love your talent and Eve, Roark, Peabody and all the troops. THANKS!
