  1. Always love Kentucky Derby week as I’m a racetrack girl from the age of 5 or 6 when my Dad was a trainer. I bet Golden Tempo and Renegade across the board so my Twinspires account is ready for Preakness weekend. Couldn’t believe they came in first and second, and ridden by brothers. What a great finish.

  2. Louisville (my hometown) is always a crapshoot in May. More often than not, Derby weekend is cool and rainy and seldom warm. Sound like you and your family had a wonderful time.

When I still lived in Louisville, I loved to shop at Rodes which has always been known to carry fine menswear and added women’s clothing later. You cannot go wrong there.

  3. As always I am breathless with all you manage to do during your Derby weekend. So much! I know it wasn’t the plan, but it was probably luck that you grabbed extra sleep from your shingles shot. And to think this is just the beginning of your very busy social season! Have fun with all of it!

  4. My granddaughter lives in Louisville, but I have never been there during Derby Week. I always wait until the great-grands are out of school, but love hearing about it from your view.

    Love the first place hat!

  5. What a great time for you at the Derby! And betting on the long shot who one – perfect! The four of you look fabulous! The pictures are all wonderful, and you made me feel like I was right there with you. Thank you.

You’re garden is blooming wonderfully; thanks for the update.

  6. What joy Kayla brings you! I have a granddaughter, Sadie, who does the same.
This write up was so entertaining, especially since I knew the setting from staying in Louisville at the Galt many years scoring AP exams and had watched the Derby closely. Plus, I love Danica Patrick too.
Thanks for taking the time to give us this snapshot of your fun.

  7. Always love reading your Derby recap! Thank you. I loved your Derby dress, magnificent.
