The first look at this year’s amazing hat comes in a selfie Nora sent of her, Bruce, Jason (son) and Kat (DIL) before the big race:
Then Bruce snapped this shot of Nora with Mark Sanchez — former NY Jets/current Philadelphia Eagles quarterback — because my husband and I are Jets fans:
They fly home today and I’m sure more photos and Nora’s travelogue will follow!
Did you watch the race? Did you pick the winner?
5/4//14 11:20 am: I’m back with the link to Nora’s red carpet interview: http://www.wave3.com/category/240203/video-landing-page?autoStart=true&topVideoCatNo=default&clipId=10122146
Nora looks beautiful as always! So glad she had a great time and shares her experiences with fans.
I’m not a betting person but I would have picked the winner this time because he is so pretty and has similar markings to a horse we had when I was a little girl.
Nora looks great! So glad she shares her derby experience with us. I am from N. California so I was hoping Califirnia Chrome would win! It would be awesome to win all three races!!!
Watched the derby. I didn’t have a choice as they were all beautiful. Like Nora’s hat.
I live in Louisville and though I did not go to the Derby, I have the TV on all day listening and watching, as I am going about my day! I stopped everything when I heard the press say Nora Roberts. Loved watching her quick interview! She looked beautiful!
Thank you for sharing Nora..and I am envious somewhat…I CAN NOT wear orange…but it looks great on ya!
Fantastic photo ! Nora looked wonderful in her hat !! Love love . Hope yo see more photos . Shelly
I did watch from the first comment on to the last……loved seeing all the hats and all the interesting stories about the horses…owners and jockeys!!! I was torn but in the end, went with the favorite because I loved their story and the trainer being 77…awwww….that was great!I I loved Nora’s hat…the colors were wonderful and her outfit spot on as usual. Her shoes were the best shade of deep blue and I wondered if they were comfortable…but they looked fabulous! That leather coat was to die for!!! But would love to see the top of the hat….it looked very interesting…… see through material but looks like beads or something embellished on the top?….so I’m hoping that she will post a picture showing the top of the hat or from the back? Once again, Nora rocked!!! Nice picture of her and hubby at the gala….black gown looked fab on her and Bruce was styling’ as usual too…..
Love the hat Nora! Looks great. You all looked like you had a great time.
Welcome to Kentucky! I love your hat! We had beautiful weather. I am a Ky native and we love our Derby. But for me the Ky Oaks is our race.. Yes I had the winner! I always wondered what Roark and Eve would do if the came to the Derby. I know he would own horses. Would a horse of his win? Would they go for the Triple Crown? Hmmmm?
I was hoping Wicked Strong would win, what with being from Boston and all. Oh, well 🙂
And thanks to Nora for the photos! Love the hat 🙂
A fab hat as usual and she gets her picture taken with the most yummy of men (Bruce included lol)
Looking forward to more pics and news.
Miss Ky so very much! Have attended the Derby 9 times in my 51 years. There’s nothing else like it on earth. I wonder if the Ky Derby is still being run in 2060?
Nora looks wonderful but I would have missed due to the fact that 99% of the time the favorite does not win the Derby.
I did watch and I did choose CA Chrome, great race and great HAT/outfit Nora. Want to see Kats hat and outfit too.
Ooooh yum, you could make a male character in a book modeled after that Mark Sanchez mmm mmm mmm…….
Yes, I did pick California Chrome and put an imaginary $1000 bet on him – too bad it wasn’t real money ;D
I had horses for twenty years and liked the calm way he was behaving in the walk to the starting area. The TV announcers said if he could get into/out of the gate without being an idiot (not exactly their phrasing lol) he would leave the rest in the dust. Did he ever! It was thrilling to watch.
Thank you, Nora, for sharing. So good of you. BTW, I’m a JD Robb fan (love love love love) and have recently hooked two more fans for you. After reading this Derby blog I decided to try a Nora book so I got True Betrayals. Going to be hot here today (Texas) so I’ll stay inside and read!
Gorgeous Hat. Too busy observing National Scrapbook Day to watch the Derby.
I love the hat and the color!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looks as though you all had a good time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was out playing in my garden and completely forgot about the race, darn it. Love Nora’s hat, looks great on her.
Love Nora’s hat AND Kat’s hat! Good times!
Thanks for posting. I’m looking forward to Nora’s take on the day.
Love your hat. You look wonderful. Yes I picked the winner.
