Vendetta in Death teasers

We’re a week away from the Vendetta in Death release (see? it wasn’t that long). In a FITS tradition, I’ll share some teasers about the book over the next few days.

As always, these will not spoil the plot, they are just some Easter Eggs (as they say in the film business) to look out for when you read.

A quick reminder of the plot:

Eve’s up against a self-proclaimed Lady Justice. Once she chooses a man as her target, she turns herself into a tall blonde or a curvaceous redhead to tempt him into her grasp. Once there, he’s powerless.

The first victim is wealthy businessman Nigel McEnroy. His company’s HR department has paid out settlements to a couple of his young victims—but they don’t know his crimes go far beyond workplace harassment. Lady Justice does. And in one shocking night of brutality, she makes him pay a much steeper price.

Eve and Roarke comb through the evidence of McEnroy’s secret life. His compulsive need to record his misdeeds provides them with a wide range of suspects, but the secret to Lady Justice remains elusive. Her criminal crusade escalates rapidly, and if Eve can’t stop this vigilante, there’s no telling how much blood may be spilled.

Tuesday, August 27:

That damn Icove movie gets in the way of everything.

Peabody + Eve’s driving = mixed bag of reaction
AAC – Asses All Covered

Last one is three-in-one:
Every individual has specific definitions
For Eve — what is whimsy
For Bella — what is a toy
For Roarke — what is trauma
Find the answers to all of these things on Tuesday!

  1. I’m reading a new book from another author I just got this morning. It will help me keep my eyes off the clock. I’m glad to see a mention of both Peabody and Feeney. Both are some of my favorites.

  2. Laura, I love the header – the peeled-back paper. It’s allegorical!

  3. I am waiting eagerly for Vendetta in Crime. All the main characters keep you alert to all the happenings and make such a cohesive storyline in each book.

  4. I’ve actually been rereading other “In Death” books to pass the time until I can get my hands on this new book, “Vendetta in Death”! I feel like I’m watching a pot waiting for it to boil. Hurry up already LOL!

    1. Ok so here is how I pass the time between In Death books. I will not read for about 3 books then have an In Death marathon and read all the books I haven’t read. Then start the cycle over again.
      I know Crazy right?
Oh then when start reading have to re- read the last one just to freshen up.
      Again crazy right?

  5. Anticipation is rising. I know next week will be enjoyable with a new In Death book.

  6. I can’t wait but I guess I have to. I have most of the series (have read them all) but am slowly getting them all electronically. I can’t wait to have this in my “library” as well.

  7. I’m clearing my calendar. Once i p.u. my book on tuesday, the world stops, nothing else gets done. can’t wait.

  8. I love all your books. Pre-ordered Vendetta in Death. Can’t wait to read it. Thank you for sharing with us.

  9. Can just see it, when Nadine’s next book becomes a movie. Feeney must have figured out a way for him and Eve to skip a party. Thanks, Laura!

  10. One of the best things about retirement! I don’t have to wait to read a new ID because I don’t have to go to work. I can start as soon as it hits the Kindle!!!

  11. I’m so excited for this book. I have it on double pre-order. The audio happens at work. ?
My friend is now addicted and she has made it up to Survivor on her first read through. I’m a really bad influence. ?
    Thank you Nora. ?

    1. Bad influence? Nooooo. To paraphrase Thomas Jefferson, “My best friend is the one who gives me a book I haven’t read.” And if it’s a new J.D.Robb? Doesn’t get better than that! A bookseller started me out on Holiday in Death, the current book at the time. The next day I told her to order me the rest. She moved when the bookstore closed, but every new in Death I send happy thoughts her way-as well as the mountains of good wished and gratitude to J.D. Robb Her books bring so much happiness to so many. Thank god she writes 2 a yr. We all wait patiently. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

  12. It’s on pre-order, I’m looking forward it having it on my Kindle when I wake up Tuesday morning. Too bad I have to work, I should have taken the day off.

  13. Finished my re-read of the In Death series yesterday in preparation for the new book. I like the idea of Feeney as a hero.

  14. I’m looking forward to listening to Vendetta in Death while on my Mediterranean Cruise.?

  15. Oooooh, even better than the stitched-together skin suits? She sure can come up with the torture. Good thing Roarke is faithful and Peabody’s afraid – lol.

  16. The entire world is Bella’s toy! Great clues, thanks Laura!

  17. Thanks for teasers ,, I refused to read first para cause I would have been soooo frustrated .
Yeah Me !!! I rec’d a Labour Day gift from my daughter- in – law. It is a small baseball bat with “Mom’s Equalizer ” carved in it . I laughed so hard . She knows my life motto .. Don’t get mad. Wait for the right opportunity and get even.
Hubs wanted to know what was so funny and I showed him my gift.
Me : remember last year when J.D.Robb’s new book came out and you interchanged all those book covers ?
Him : yeah that was funny !
Me : NOT. But do you also remember me messing with your sports channels and you couldn’t watch NFL season kickoff ? Well, just so you know J.D. Robb’s new book comes out Tues. and NFL starts this weekend . Now , your bones are fragile and I can use my gift to demonstrate if you mess with my new read.

Now , after 52 years of wedded bliss I do know that the word “MAN ” and the word “INTELLIGENCE” should not be used in the same sentence when referring to relationship goals so I don’t know if he got my point . Be interesting .
Lookin frwrd to an awesome read.
