Vendetta in Death excerpt

We’re less than 70 days out so I think it’s time for a sneak peek at Vendetta in Death, don’t you? First, the book description.

She calls herself Lady Justice. She chooses a man as her target, then turns herself into tall blonde or a curvaceous redhead — an alluring, seductive illusion. Once in her grasp, her target is powerless.

The first victim is wealthy businessman Nigel McEnroy. His company’s human resources department has already paid out settlements to a couple of his young victims but they don’t know that his crimes go far beyond workplace harassment. Lady Justice knows. And in one shocking night of brutality, she makes him pay a much steeper price.

As Eve combs through the evidence of McEnroy’s secret life his compulsive need to record his misdeeds hints at a wide range of suspects, but Lady Justice remains elusive and escalates rapidly. If Eve can’t stop this vigilante, there’s no telling how much blood may be spilled.

Read Chapter One.

Speculate away in the comments.

  3. Oh! This is going to be so good!!!!! I love vigilante stories and I know this one will be full of pushes and pulls on law and justice. Cannot wait.

You’ve wetted my appetite! I cannot wait for Eve to go after Lady Justice!
The clock is ticking! But Eve will find justice for this evil person, and all else that Lady Justice presumes to be judge, jury and executioner for, even if they are assholes!

    1. I hope Lady Justice don’t make a mistake and g[ after Roark.. Wow!! Love all by Death and Nora Roberts books.

  7. Such good bad guys! I got so caught up in this preview that when I got to the end, and I knew it was a short preview, I couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t scroll further.
Patiently waiting for September. Meanwhile, will have Under Currents (and other books) to read

  9. OMG. That was so wild! Can’t wait for the release. The writing is so visual and electric.

  10. Can’t wait to read this! Lady Justice sounds like a great opponent for Dallas & Peabody. Currently rereading Delusion iD, guess I’ll keep going on the rereads till this one is released!

  11. I knew they were getting along too well. This case is bound to put E&R on opposite sides of that “line” the two of them dance around. Will they find an answer in the “marriage rules”? Love it! Thanks so much to Nora for finding more ways to challenge and grow her characters. It’s the one thing that other series writers (not going to name them, but you know who) fail to do. Thanks and can’t wait. I’m at 38 on my current reread!

  12. The first chapter pulled you right in which is no surprise. Cant wait to devour this book.

  13. Thank you so much for this teaser! So excited for September to get here. This story just grabbed me right away as have all the others. I also enjoy your other books, haven’t read them all but always plan on doing so. Thank you??❣️.

  14. As always, just so good right out of the gate. According to the timer on my phone, only 68 days, 4 hours, 2 minutes and 40 seconds til I can read it all. LOL.

  15. I read the chapter yesterday off the Nora newsletter – very interesting story line considering the changing climate of the last several years – this one will probably make the male readers cringe!

  16. Don’t you just love Eve Dallas! Cant wait to see how this type of story intertwines with Eve’s background and the hunt for justice.

  17. Seems good. But some of it reminds me alot of Brotherhood in Death. I hope there’s a different twist to it

  18. Well, well, a vigilante who is a Lady! I thought at first it might be APA Cher Reo. But no. Waiting is the pits. Eight weeks! Why, oh why can’t I get an ARC?

  19. J.D. Robb writes an action packed, thriller-mystery that makes you feel as though you are with Eve Dallas. Her ability to read a crime scene is breath taking and reveals a substantial knowledge of human nature. Robb’s plots are well thought out and sometimes complicated. Winding through the mystery is the complex relationship between Eve and Rourke, as Eve heals from old wounds and opens up to new relationships. It’s good that she has this time to heal. It gives her the ability to interact on a wider scale with young people that she meets during her adventures. I identify with Dallas on many levels because of her past and her present decision to see the “whole” story.
