Love the stand alones and this one met all expectations!! Devoured it in a day. Will now go back and meander my way again.

I’m just curious. The description in the dustjacket calls him Callan Cooper, but my book calls him Dillon Cooper. Anyone know why this might be? Thank you.
That was an error that wasn’t caught before final print. It will be correct for the paperback editions.

The book became available at 9 last night. It’s so good. I’m trying to read slow so the story lasts a while. I have read every book by Nora and JD Robb. Thank you Nora!!!!
downloaded about 5 this morning & started reading. Got about half way & had to stop–other duties calling! But you know I’ll be back in there as soon as I can! Love the dogs, and the names!!

I loved it and really enjoyed the whole concept of the book. The fact that Cat has a huge family and it was set in Big Sur (which sounds amazing) really made me enjoy the whole book. Yet another Nora Roberts Hit.

So happy to see the download on my Kindle last night!! Holy smokes, right off the line….pulled right into the story and went waaaay beyond 1am before I put it down. Can’t wait to start again this evening.

I received mine early! Thank you TTP! I devoured it and loved it. Caitlyn (Cate) is wonderful. As always, Nora writes children superbly. I figured out who was behind the kidnapping just before the denouncement- killer plot move! As an FYI, on my fly leaf, Dillion is Callan Cooper, oops! Can’t wait for comments and discussions. Nora and Laura – thank you for these blogs – they help keep me sane.

Just came to check if the blurb was right, but Nora’s website also lists it as “Callan.” Maybe it was a late change?
That was an editorial change that didn’t make it to the jacket copy. I’m sure it will be fixed for the paperback.

Mine too! But I did not read the fly leaf until I read your post. 😂 I hardly ever read the synopsis of Nora’s books. I just buy them. ( except for her last trilogy). I really enjoyed Hideaway.
Just started this morning, loving it as expected. I have a question though, near the end of chapter 2, Charlotte refers to her husband Aidan, as Hugh…twice! Is this an ebook error, or editing oversight? Very confusing.
I noticed that, too. I had to go back and read it over because I couldn’t work out where Hugh suddenly sprang from!
I am currently reading it. Nora, you are on my must buy list because your stories are always great.
I’m loving the story. Love how the characters grow and develop (when they are capable of changes).
I really liked this book. I thought it was great
– thought Cate was great, her reaction to the trauma, her fight for control of her life felt real. The fact the trauma had an impact changed her character and her future, but without angst ridden levels of ptsd
– no one writes families as well as Nora, and I flat out loved the Sullivans and the coopers
– G-Lil has become one of my favourite Nora characters, like CeCe in Shelter in Place
– one I felt most sorry for was Aidan, a poignant character. I thought it interesting that his character took a backseat to Hugh and G-Lil
– Unlike most of Nora’s books not so much interaction with friends but I guess it was because so much time was given to family, and specific family members at that
– I would have liked the final prison scene, but I guess it was not considered part of Cate and Dillon’s story?
– finally, while I will take anything Nora writes and say thank you, I am wondering if there is going to be a Darlie’s story set in Ireland cos I would love to know what happens to her
Overall, for me a good and long, satisfying read that put a smile on face, which in these challenging time is worth it’s weight in gold. Thanks Nora 😀
This book was a good read. I’ll re-read it at some point but not right away. The ending feels abrupt and not fully settled because I hoped for a but more story.
So loved this book. I need to become an editor. Even with the errors (typo’s) the twists and turns were enough to keep me reading till I was bleary eyed. I too would like to have been privy to a final jail scene, but figure Red’s predictions were enough.

I would have like a prison scene too and him telling the police that he was the one that did that to Noah. I didn’t like that they didn’t all know what happened.
I purchased this in error; I don’t read romance novels, although I love some of her other books. It didn’t light my fire, but as a pandemic choice, it was OK.
I’m waiting for the weekend to read – I don’t want to be interrupted by trivial things like work… Once I start a Nora book – I don’t want to put it down til I’m done!
I loved the story, loved the characters, but hated the ending. That abrupt “You’ve Got Mail” ending just kills me.
It came preordered to my kindle library yesterday, and I devoured it last night and this morning. Very enjoyable, if stressful in spots. I loved Dillon. He reminded me of my favorite character – Ford Sawyer.
Getting ready to turn around and read it again – slowly for content and all the feels. Plus, getting all the many many characters in their “right order”.

I have read many of Ms. Roberts books, but do not claim to have read or to remember all. The Sullivan family seem so fleshed out, so very complex… were they in a series that I missed? I did a quick internet search and didn’t see a connection, but if there are any other books that have the back stories of any of the family, I would love to read them.

My synopsis has Dillon’s name as Callan. But other than that I am thoroughly enjoying this book.
I devoured the book in one day and loved it! I love this big Irish family which remains modest in spite of fame and money.
I’m just not getting into this one as much as I have the others, and these are my favorite type of books from Nora. I love the single titles, where we meet them as children, and see them through life, and adult life, but I’m just not feeling this one.
I read this wonderful book in one day – only because I was unwell and took the opportunity.
I really liked it. It was like reading the old Nora books. While I enjoyed Sundown, Shelter, and Undercurrents, this book did not trigger me. It was like being with a close friend. Nora’s characters are so human. I love how food is prepared so quickly in her books and I often use her recipes.
Another good book to reread time and again.
I love everyone of your Nora Roberts books and I have them all BUT there’s only one thing that constantly annoys me and particularly this story. You never give us an ending you just leave the characters hanging.
I don’t mind if we meet them again in another book in a series but we go through everything with Dillon and Cate we don’t get to go to the wedding no idea what dress she wore or how it all went. That’s the only criticism of any of your books because it happens in them all.
I think she leaves the rest up to our imagination, but I understand how you feel. I sometimes like my endings tidy and tied with a bow. I once read a book where it ends with the heroine sitting in a boat in the middle of a lake not knowing the fate of her lover, and we readers didn’t know either.
I don’t think I could have read another of her books I would think oh oh she can’t think of a good ending.

Unfortunately, no. It is often the way the other author ended her books – leaving you wondering.
Agreed. The ending felt rushed. Also, the whole book makes you anxious for a big confrontation and it lasts only 3 pages.
It’s not about the wedding or the dress, neither of which speak to the plot. You have the resolution of the external conflict–the danger–and the resolution of the emotional commitment of the two main characters.
Even in straight romance, which this isn’t, you often don’t see a wedding, etc.
Unless a wedding, and description of it, advance plot or character, I’m not going to include them.

Thank you very much for another great read! We had an internet outage here this afternoon which meant no working from home for me and a nice, slow wind down to the weekend. The book, the garden, a cup of tea, and then later a glass of wine—Friday afternoons don’t get much better!
Due to the Covid situation, I had to cancel my trip to see my family this summer and probably won’t get to see them this year. This book made me pine a bit, but also made me feel lucky to have them. I‘ve ordered Mum a copy for her birthday with a card that says ‘thanks for ranking higher on the good mother scale than Charlotte.’ She’ll understand.
I read it in two days. I couldn’t put it down!! I had about 5 pages to go, at that VERY stressful point, when I had to get on a zoom call! I was shaking so bad! Could hardly wait to get back and finish it!
I have all of Nora’s book, including all of the JD Robb books! She’s my fav!!
What an enjoyable read! I love e two. Smilies, and getting to know the MCs at different ages. I also love that Kate got to rescue herself using her craft.
The book arrived late Tuesday. I decided to read just a few pages before going to sleep Tuesday night. MISTAKE! Next thing I know it’s 8 am Wednesday and I still can’t put it down. It’s now Saturday and I’m on my usual reread and trying to catch up on sleep but the cats insist I need to wake up…
Just finished it and I loved it. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again that the way Nora describes things makes you feel like you are right there….the views…the ranch descriptions. It puts you right up close. I enjoyed this story and how it took you from child to grown woman. Her journey through the years. The Sullivans and the Coopers were so different but so alike. Love of family. I also felt Aidan was never fully developed and brought into the mix of things enough and going through the years alone? You didn’t get to know him like the other characters. Red was a favorite. Reminded me of my son who still surfs at 50. I really didn’t want this book to end! Can’t wait for the next…..
The story was so beautifully written that I found myself devastated for Caitlyn and what she went through, while at the same time being amazed and awed at the child who had the courage to save herself.
I loved Caitlyn’s relationship with her family and the bond that they formed with the Coopers- bonds that proved family isn’t always by blood, but by people willing to open themselves enough to accept you.The strength of the characters and the bonds between them, made for a really compelling read…

Really enjoyed the book, perfect distraction from the current situation. I can honestly say I did not really care for Charlotte! Kinda wish she would’ve been a target before Cate. As always written with excellence. Looking forward to the next book!
This book went way too fast! I am fascinated at the way Nora weaves her characters into the story. She makes it look easy but I can see in the reading the amount of research and time it must take.
As a fan and a teacher, my only irritation is the typos/errors I found in this and others of her more current releases. For example, in Hideaway, the blurb on the jacket cover says “Callan” Cooper, when in fact it is “Dillon” Cooper. A small thing perhaps but it detracts from the absolute care Nora appears to take with her writing.
That’s a printing error that will be fixed for the paperback edition.

Thanks Laura. Unfortunately, it’s not the only typo. Maybe it’s the teacher in me, but can these mistakes not be caught before the book is released? The writing is so good; these errors (to me at least) are glaring.
I just finished Hideaway and loved it. I just have one question that is nagging at me, on page 30 when Aiden goes in to talk to Charlotte, she says she wants Nina fired and then calls him Hugh. Is it a typo or am I reading it wrong?

I want a epilogue with Charlotte screaming because she is turned away at the gate for the wedding. Then to the wedding with everyone toasting the bride and groom.
I enjoyed the book. Loved the Sullivans and the Coopers. One of the problems with Nora’s books is that I love all the characters so much, I want follow-up books on other characters! I’d love for Aiden to find a love of his own. I noticed the typos, too. And the description of Red’s shoot-out was confusing. I think the bad guys were supposed to be depicted as having automatic weapons, because Red’s Glock is also a “semiautomatic” meaning one bullet comes out each time the trigger is squeezed, and an AR-15 is a popular semiautomatic rifle, not an “assault rifle”.
Inhaled the book on book-day release; then I just had to re-read it again, two more times! Thank you Nora for another wonderful story. Too many favorite moments or one-liners to mention! Looking forward to the weekend to do a slow re-read this weekend.
Hideaway was everything I hoped. I was left wondering, How does Nora make everyone so real, and every story so new, every single time? It feels like I move to a new neighborhood, meet new friends and get to know some great family dynamics– within a few chapters, I’d rather be in Nora world than my own.

Oh my gosh, I just read Hideaway and that was a fantastic book. It didn’t take me but three days to read it. By the second page I was hooked and couldn’t put it down. That’s one of the best books I’ve read in a while.

Another wonderful story! Loved that Cate made it through so much heartbreak…especially the realization that her mother didn’t love her, so sad. Thankfully she had so many others to fill that space in her heart and to protect her. Then there’s Cate an Dillon, so sweet a reunion. Thank you Nora for another book for my favorites shelf!
I loved Hideaway, I could not put it down. I have just finished my third dead of the book. I loved it, I want to know what happens to darlie and her son please, I would definitely read that one.

I just needed to point out the (disturbing) similarities between Charlotte Dupont and Jane Palmer ( from Public Secrets) and wonder how you so effortlessly depict the unmaternal mothers ( see each of the mothers in the Chesapeake Bay saga), while still creating the more true-to life close- to- the heart- bonds in so many other of your stories ( I especially love the bonds forged in Undercurrents, Shelter in Place, The Witness, the Three Sisters Island Trilogy, and Inn Boonsboro Trilogy) Your understanding of the bonds of the heart that can be so much deeper than blood bonds really resonates within this adopted child’s spirit and I feel as if you have a true understanding of what a special special gift that is.
Have finished Hideaway and loved it. Have to admit after reading some of the others it was different but its now on my bedroom bookshelf with the ones I read over and over again. Now just need to hold on to November for the start of the new trilogy.
Just finished Hideaway – another winner. Couldn’t put it down. Lost power from the storm but continued with candles and flashlight. The characters and generations reminded me a bit of the MacGregors. I’ll be pulling those books out to read again. No power for five more days! Hope the batteries in my flashlight hold up, rereads are on the agenda.
