This go round for the Fall Into the Story BookChat our book is Tribute. And we’ll be trying something different this time. I’m setting this up to be simultaneous with our Tribute chat on Facebook. I’ll post a graphic with a question about Tribute each day in their own, numbered post. That should make it easy to follow.

I’m still figuring this format for the blog out, so if you have any suggestions (helpful is most appreciated), post them in the comments.

If you haven’t read (or reread) Tribute, here’s the book description:

Cilla McGowan, a former child star, has found a more satisfying life restoring homes. So she comes to Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley to save the dilapidated farmhouse of her grandmother—a legendary actress who died of an overdose there more than thirty years ago.
 
Plunging into the project with gusto, Cilla’s almost too busy and exhausted to notice her neighbor, graphic novelist Ford Sawyer. Determined not to carry on the family tradition of ill-fated romances, Cilla steels herself against Ford’s quirky charm, though she can’t help indulging in a little fantasy.   
 
But it’s reality that holds its share of dangers for Cilla. A cache of unsigned letters found in the attic points to a mysterious romance in her grandmother’s life, and may be what sparks a frightening, violent assault. Now, if Cilla and Ford are unable to sort out who is targeting her and why, she may, just like her world-famous grandmother, be cut down in the prime of her life.

  2. Definitely one of my top favorites from NR’s books, and Ford is one of my fav. heroes. Of course, Roarke tops them all, but hey, Ford can give him a bit of a battle! And Spock is a wonderful dog, just as quirky as his person! Yep, off to reread! Like I needed an excuse (grin)…

  3. I think Tribute scores the top of my favorite NR books. Ford is great, but Spock is my true hero! What an awesome story.

  7. I love almost every one of Nora’s books, but Tribute is one of my favorites! I’ve read and re-read this book countless times. Ford was an amazing hero, Cilla was a wonderful heroine, Spock was hilarious. And I LOVED Cilla’s grandmother’s appearances!

  8. I remember reading this and could barely put it down. I just added it to my Kindle since the original is buried somewhere waiting to be unpacked. Or perhaps it’s on the shelf in the pantry where I started putting books on the shelves on one side but ran out of room.
    I love this story with Ford and Cilla. I’d forgotten about the dog named Spock.

  10. Without a doubt it is one of the best NR books. I enjoyed reading it and continue to do so every time I reread it. It has many things to highlight but there are two that are shown in a masterful way: The house, which is like one more character, and then the presence of Janet … A great book.

  11. I’ve just read Tribute again, too, as I’ve found Nora’s books to be a reliable source of reassurance!! I liked it that Ford was unapologetically not gifted with carpentry, and that Cilla was awesome at it; go girl! Her wish to be part of a community, but privately, resonated with me, as shown with removing the front gates. It was fun that Ford made a graphic novel version of Cilla – very cool! And yes, Spock was a groovy dog.
