A summer pastime

Nora was selected to Quirk Books’ Literary Baseball All-Star Team!  She’s playing the hot corner, just like her favorite baseball player, Brooks Robinson.

This got me to thinking:  who would I vote onto a Romance All-Start Baseball team?

I’m not going to choose positions, but for me, Nora would captain a team of Romance vets including Jane Austen, Mary Stewart, Georgette Heyer, Linda Howard, Mary Balogh, Nalini Singh, Jill Shalvis and Sarah Morgan.

Who would play on your Romance All-Star team?

  1. My lineup would have to be, in no particular order, Nora Roberts (of course), Catherine Coulter, Lindsay McKenna, Mary Balogh, Dixie Browning (as she’s from NC like me), Julie Tetel, Emma Goldrick, Jane Austen and Johanna Lindsey.

  2. Well, Nora of course! Then Jayne Ann Krentz, Kay Hooper, Stella Cameron, Mary Stewart, Dana Stabenow (I know, but there’s some romance in her books and I think she’d be a great player!), Linda Howard, Catherine Coulter and Iris Johansen.

  3. Well, besides Nora and several of the ones others mentioned, how could you not include Julia Quinn, Linda Lael Miller and one of my favorites, Roxanne St. Clair.

  4. Nora (of course,) Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Diana Palmer, Pamela Morsi, Debbie Macomber, Linda Howard and my newest discovery Hope Ramsay

  5. I wonder whether Charlotte Brontë would be interested in pitching… Just a thought 🙂

  6. My picks: Nora Roberts, Linda Howard, Elizabeth Lowell, Lynn Kurland, Karen Marie Moning, Christina Skye, M.M. Kaye, Mary Stewart, Margaret Mitchell.

  7. Besides Nora, I would include Jayne Ann Krentz, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Catherine Coulter, Dana Stabenow, Dee Davis, Susan Mallery, and Mariah Stewart.

  8. Hmm, Nora Roberts, Jane Austen, and Jayne Ann Krentz, Amanda Quick, and Jayne Castle (yes, I know they’re the same person 🙂 )

  9. Nora Roberts/JD Robb,Catherine Coulter, Julie Garwood, Nalini Singh,Sherrilyn Kenyon, Stephanie Laurens, Karen Moning, Keri Arthur,Lynsay Sands

  10. Congratulations to Nora on the hotspot. Given the number of times I’ve reread all the In Death books, Nora would definitely be the team captain. Georgette Heyer would be honorary captain, since she’s no longer with us — she started me off on adult romances. Gladys Malvern, who wrote historical romances for young people would be on the Little League team. Joining Nora on the main team would be Linda Howard, Christina Dodd, Jayne Ann Krentz, Mary Balogh, Kay Hooper, Jo Beverly, Mary Stewart, Victoria Holt, Jane Aiken Hodge, and Barbara Michaels (The Master of Black Tower). I’m making a list of everyone else’s favorites and look forward to diving in to new authors.

Relief pitchers: Iris Johansen, Jayne Ann Krentz, and Mary Balogh.

Naturally I’d have to have angels in the outfield, so I’d call up Arnette Lamb and Penny Jordan.
