When all the best things feel miles away
Thought I’d pop in for a minute to share that Kat’s a tad past her due date (10/17). Nora waits on call with her packed bag and premade lasagna to help in any way when the Young Master arrives. I promise to let you know all the news when I have some.
In the meantime, we’ll talk about other things worth waiting for. On Tuesday, I shared the cover reveal video for Under Currents — Nora’s July 2019 release. It’s gorgeous and spooky all at once. What do you think?

As you know, Nora and family moved their annual NYC fall trip to September to accommodate Kat’s due date. I decided to keep the original dates and had my own adventure last week. I’m afraid I didn’t finish my holiday shopping (code for I haven’t started) unlike some other people I could mention, but my husband and I got up to The Met, out to a NY Jets game and finished the trip with an evening at Springsteen on Broadway. And I took photos along the way.
On Tuesday, I spent some time in the Flatiron Building with Marissa Sangiacomo and Erica Martirano, members of Team Nora as well as the hosts of One True Pairing, a podcast about their favorite couples from all parts of pop culture. We had a wide-ranging conversation about our favorite Nora Roberts couples, what writers owe their readers, white chocolate and how much Erica and I detest it. I think the segment airs the week of Thanksgiving, and I’ll share a link when it’s up.
Macmillan (St. Martin’s Press is an imprint) leaves the Flatiron Building next spring to a building further downtown, so I take advantage of any visit to take a snap.
And I think that’s just about all the news from this desk. Back to waiting on the Young Master. Stay tuned!

Thanks Laura for keeping us posted. First babies are a crap shoot! My daughter was 10 days early, my granddaughter was 2 days past due date, I came 2-1/2 months early, at a time 4 pound premie babies were at severe risk. But 70-1/2yrs later, here I am!
I think Nora’s supposed to be in the Delivery Room? I was, when my granddaughter was born. What an experience! I took her first picture, though her paternal grandfather is a professional photographer. I have it hanging on my wall, almost 11 years later. I’ll never forget the drama, love, comfort and support the doctor and nurses gave my daughter. My hand was swollen for 2 weeks, from her squeezing when the babies shoulders came out. I’d do it again, in a heartbeat!
Tell Nora my granddaughter and I are going to adopt one of her traditions with her granddaughter. I’m taking mine shopping next week, to pick out a few presents. She’s too young for makeup, but we will get manis/pedis together. I bought most of her gifts already, but as her birthday is the 2nd week of December, I do a double shopping. It’s nothing better than getting exactly what you want, so this way she can pick a few tween outfits for herself. We live in NYC, so plan to finish up ice skating at Rockefeller Center, or having Frozen Hot Chocolate.

All 4 of my babies were due in one month and born the next. The dr said oh you have 10 month pregnancies and I told him you shouldn’t say that to a pregnant woman she might hurt you lol. Now we have 2 beautiful grandchildren and they’re so much fun. I’ll be anxiously waiting news on Nora’s next next grandbaby.
I was a month and a day late. Personally, I think the doctor just counted wrong. I was my sister’s coach and will never forget the magic. Warm wishes coming their way. My dad’s birthday is Halloween – just sayin’. Awesome birthday parties.

My older nephew was about 6 weeks early. He still weighed about 6 pounds and was ok. Since he was ok, I was glad he was early after my sister said her doctor said if he had gone to term he would have been around 10 pounds. He was born on a very memorable day for me since I’m a baseball fan. October 17, 1989 was the day he was born and the earthquake that did serious damage to one of the bridges around SF stopped the World Series because SF and Oakland were the two teams playing. Time does go too fast. He’s 29 and a lawyer now.
If my mother were still alive, she could sympathize with Kat about late babies. All three of us came later than our due dates. I was supposed to be born in May (June 8), my brother was supposed to be born in April (june 3), and my sister was supposed to be born in May OJuly 11). Babies come when Jehovah feels it is the right time. I think the Young Master will be spoiled rotten when he finally gets here.

Thanx laura, for the updates. It would be fun if the baby was an October baby. Nora & i r both October babies, 2 days apart. I am prejudiced, but i think us libras are the most creative people. Good luck to all, and remember that first babies are often late.
I think that style of building is my very favorite! We have one in Cleveland and I adore the look of it! Thank you so much for the great picture of it! BTW Kat was going to share the double sided blanket she crocheted. It was going to have an Irish look about it but we never saw it. ( Or did I miss it?)

My sister had to be induced with all four of her children and the oldest one was over 4 weeks late when they finally decided to induce her. This was in 1978.
By the time she had her daughter in 1989 I couldn’t understand why if they know she had to be induced with the three boys would they make her wait with Anna. But that was the military they didn’t do ultra sounds and monitor the growth of the baby and stuff like that.
My niece, Anna from above, was induced a couple of weeks early with her son because he was ready to come out but not getting in a hurry about it. The signs showed it was better to go ahead and induce her for the sake of the baby.
Thanks for the updates. Maybe the Young Master will be born on the 31st. I hope not for Kate’s sake, but anything is possible.

Happy news abound. Baby is happy so he’s keeping dad on his toes and Mom wrapped around his tiny perfect and magical fingers ⭐. If he has his saying Nora’s household will be eating Lasagna for weeks as the Little Master wants something else 😉 Go Baby!
The new book seems a HIT with me. I love these kind of life-dealt-you-a-lousy-hand-?-Life-and-Nora-are-great-in-giving-second-chances 🙂 . I could say I can’t wait but we all know I not only can that I will so… hurry just a bit 2019 :D. I must make a point and not thing about the other Zane though 😉
