  1. Oh yeah, this makes the waiting harder. This was a great first chapter. I’m definitely counting the days.

  2. I usually won’t read the excerpts because I always want more. This time I did. I can hardly wait for September to be here!

  3. This chapter makes it so difficult to be patient and wait till September!! It is so attention grabbing! Can hardly wait for the rest of the book!

    Thanks for the torture!!! LOL!!!

  4. Nope, can’t read it. makes the waiting too difficult. Looking forward to finding it on my porch come September!

  5. This is good! I have already pre-ordered, now I’m even more eager then usual to read Leverage in Death!
I don’t know how Nora/JD does it, but she keeps me a heavy camper. I have read every in Death book since Naked in Death came out, at least 10× and some more than that. I just finished re-reading Secrets and Echoes, this week.
Since Nora first started writing romance novels 30+ years ago, I have been a fan. She amazes me! I can’t wait for a peek at the next chapter!

  6. I will not read this excerpt. I will not be tortured for 5 months!

    1. I absolutely agree with you, I don’t want to read it either until it’s released.

  7. I’ve started my annual reread in preparation for Sept. I’m moving quickly through — already on Witness. Leverage looks really frightening… another plum from Nora. Thanks for the excerpt, pLaura, even though it makes the next 3 months tough to endure.

  8. I can wait… Now is the time I begin to reread the series, starting where she started. The evolution of Eve. This series touches my heart every time I was do. I hope we have many more years of her. Miss Nora, you are a Webmaster. Thank you for your mind.

  9. OMG! You never cease to amaze me! The direction of each book changes in different directions. I’m am so baffled by your talent. It moves me in ways that only you can take me. Just reading an excerpt, has me drawn in . Hook, line and sinker. I can’t wait until I get my hands on the actual book.
I have a lot of authors that I love to read but, you are, by far my favorite.
As you grow, so does your intensity and I’m in awe of your creativity. After every book, I say to myself, ” how will she top that? ” and the next one goes past all I can imagine.
I can’t wait till it comes out. Thank you!

  10. I have read every Nora/JD book. Never disappointed.
This reads like another good one. How does she keep coming up with fresh ideas. Guess that is the sign of a great writer. I always pre order as soon as I hear of one of her books.

  11. Every time, I tell myself I’m not going to read the insert because then I’ll want it NOW & I have to wait 3 & 1/2 months for the release. But I am weak; no good at telling temptation to get behind me & make it stick. And now? I WANT IT NOW! Bad enough that I’m counting days till Shelter in Place releases (9 & 1/2 days till midnight!), now I’ll be counting till September! And for both of them , I’ll have to make myself get some sleep because I’ll have to go to work that morning as well. Sure wish release days were on the weekend! Then I could ignore the rest of the world & READ THE BOOK!

Great chapter! Introduced to this Lt in Bombs & Explosives & thought of the one that died in Loyalty in Death. I think her name was Anne? This LT seemed solid/sensible. Wouldn’t mind seeing more of her but however it needs to work.

Now to distract myself from wanting the two books ASAP! Maybe I need to reread Loyalty… Thanks!

  12. My Sept. 26th birthdays have never had it so good. The new ones are my permanent early b-day present from my honey. Fan-freakin-tastic! ?

  13. Quote from the movie, “The Sandlot”.
    “Your killing me Smalls'”.
I ask myself why do I read these when you offer them, the answer is anticipation. Yet the anticipation is as slow as KETCHUP.
    Thanks for the pre-view.

  14. For two days, I resisted. I told myself not to read it, that I should wait until at least a month before publication, but noooooo. I broke. Sounds awesome!

  15. Yet another great read coming up. Love J D Robb, Dallas, Peabody and all the gang. Thank you.

  16. Wow, September cannot get here fast enough. Sounds like another great read!

  17. Every time there’s an excerpt, I swear I won’t read it. I always cave and read it. Now I suffer for four months, then binge read the entire book on release day. Hurry up September!!

  18. Why? Why? Why do I do this to myself? I always say I AM NOT going to read the excerpt, then I do. Now I cant’ wait for the new book. Is it September yet??

  19. Wow! Just wow!!! But how do I wait now until September. Looks like its going to be amazing read as usual.

  20. Rats, rats, rats!!! Now it’s going to seem even longer until September. I’m already hooked.

  21. Let me put it this way, when I first heard the name Leverage, my mind literally went to the show with Timothy Hutton, Christian Kane and Gina Bellman. If you haven’t seen it and you got a Hulu or Netflix, I recommend watching it. But I’ll tell you this, this is definitely not Nate Ford’s Leverage.

  22. Can’t wait for this new JDRobb book! Have read all of these and Nora Roberts !!
Only read the same write up !! Can’t read anymore, will be hard enough waiting now !!
Nora, you write the best books ever !! ?

  23. Hi! Thank-you for not rushing to make Eve & Raorke parents. I always felt like they had a “Family” with their friends & co-worders, just as you describe. Not every couple has kids. One of things I love about the series, is that it’s Just them. Mavis is a great Mom & I love Bella, but Eve is where she’s supposed to be at this point in her & Roarke’s lives. I love the entire series, thank-you so much for creating all of these wonderful charactors.
