Echoes in Death (Feb. 2017) cover reveal

Echoes in Death

Echoes in Death is the 44th entry in the In Death series, and  the first from St. Martin’s Press.  The new Team JD is off and running toward the February 7, 2017 release date and they’ve shared the book cover, book description and order info.

Book description:

After a party, Eve heads home with Roarke, happy to be done with cocktails and small talk.

After different party not far away, a woman retires to her bedroom with her husband—and walks into a brutal nightmare.
Their paths are about to collide…
When the young woman—dazed, naked, and bloody—wanders in front of their car, Roarke slams on the brakes just in time, and Eve, still in glittering gown and heels, springs into action. It’s been a long night and now it’s far from over.
Daphne Strazza is rushed to the ER, but it’s too late for Dr. Anthony Strazza. A brilliant orthopedic surgeon, he now lies dead amid the wreckage of his obsessively organized town house, his three safes opened and emptied. Daphne would be a valuable witness, but in her terror and shock the only description of the perp she can offer is repeatedly calling him “the devil” . . .
Turns out  Dr. Strazza was cold, controlling, and widely disliked—and that he treated Daphne like a trophy wife— but this is one case where the evidence doesn’t point to the spouse as the first suspect.
Eve and her team must interview everyone from dinner-party guests to caterers to professional colleagues, in a desperate race to answer some crucial questions:
What does the devil look like? And where will he show up next?

  1. OMG, February! It’s not good to wish away part of my life, but now I have to wait 7-8 months and the description sounds so good! does make me think of the beginning of Vision in Death; Eve was on the opening death scene in full fancy dress there as well, and had to climb over rocks! Then in the notification, the woman opened the door & said something to the effect of “is that a Leonardo?”

  2. Can’t wait to read it…sounds like another winner! Have all of the In–Death books..and love each of them.

  3. Thanks for the peek. I’ve been reading all different types of speculation online, of what the title- Echoes- could be referring to- this ends all the speculation.

  4. Ordering! This month’s release is always my birthday present to me, my birthday is 13 days later. I will have devoured the book and re-read at least twice by my birthday. You pick up something new or a nuance or clue you overlooked in your first, greedy reading.

I hope this new publisher is everything Nora/J.D. wants. I know how loyal she is and she’s not one to change things easily. Love the cover. Slight change from the previous in Death HC books. Is this because of new publisher? Is there a new artist for the covers as well?
Thanks for keeping us informed, well in advance, Laura.

  5. Oh, BOY! Calling my local independent book store to be sure they have started the list on this one and I’m on it! Thanks, Laura; love the communication.

  6. Thanks for the heads-up. Pre-ordered and anxiously waiting for September and now February.

  7. So happy the series will continue.

WIll order my print copy from TTP.

  8. How lovely, an amuse bouche. So nice to pre-order this far out. I have to make notes to myself on the calendar as a reminder that I’ve already purchased the book.

  9. I love knowing that 2 In Death books are ready and waiting, but I must admit that it just makes me that much more impatient. I have all of the published In Death books on Audible and listen to them regularly. The new ones make me wish the time would go faster.

  10. Nobody has it on CD or MP3 yet, not even the publisher. I will put it on my calendar to look for those every month until it comes out.

    1. Brilliance goes at a different pace than the book publisher. I’m sure the cd and Audible versions will be up for preorder by the fall.

      Laura

  11. Laura will we still have the same reader for the In Death books?

    1. Yes, Brilliance Audio remains Nora’s audio book producer. Susan will continue to read the In Death books.

      1. Oh, thank God I hatell it when a series switches readers from one book to the next. Plus Susan Erikson is so good!

    2. I’m pretty sure ALL of the loyal fans of the previous 43 books, will follow Nora/J.D. over to the new publishers. I know I will! I already pre-ordered Hard Cover and NOOK copies (It’s my 2 week early birthday present, every year). This way, I can always re-read whichever of the books I want, even when not home, as I also have NOOK app on my Samsung Galaxy 6 Edge.

  12. 13 days to go. Can hardly wait. I love football but the wait for the BCS and Super Bowl cannot match the anticipation I feel waiting for a new “In Death” book
