Dark in Death teasers

The end of the wait is in sight!  Dark in Death is in stores on Tuesday, January 30.  The perfect way to end the first month of the year, don’t you think?  As has become tradition, I’ll share some teasers about the book here.

No spoilers, no plot points for the series as a whole.  No big secrets because, well, that’s just not right.  Instead just some nuggets you may enjoy as the case unfolds.

I’ll update each day this week (I think – honestly it depends on how fast I go through them).

And for kicks and giggles (plus the mental gymnastics for me) I’m going to write them as haikus.  Or post videos (I get bored easily). So check back.

Monday, January 22
Summerset gone? Yay!
Hide? Seek! Find the perfect spot.
Big house, takes a while.

Tuesday, January 23
Cop books that don’t blow?
Some agree it can be done.
But not Jenkinson.

Wednesday, January 24
Mohair! Pink Shantung!
She who rides a hobbyhorse
gets some alpaca.

Came back to lend my opinion to the early comments on the Wednesday haiku:

I know you all feel like this:

But here’s today’s teaser to perk you up:

Feeney a fanboy?
It’s never whack timing when
rock gods add their voice.

Friday, January 26
Murder cop, reader:
each one looks for a hero
Who’s yours in the end?

And that’s it for teasers!  Back to open the discussion thread on Tuesday!

  1. I have decided after reading the teaser for Dark in Death and Shelter in Place I don’t want to go tyo the movies with Nora/JD. ?
    Can’t wait to read both!!!

  2. Laura, you are on fire today! Thanks for keeping us so updated. I think all these great posts should earn you a free pass next game day! Lol.

      1. Aww – well Laura, I could but try. I will be at Inn Boonsboro in March with some of our January murder companions, we will toast you and send competitive vibes – consider us for “phone a friend ” status. We had a hell of a group, can’t wait to come back! Consider us on stand by. ❤️

  3. I have watched the evolution of Eve and Summerset. Still snarky, but respect for their abilities and for the love they both have for Roarke. This series is so much more than just a bunch of murder mysteries. Thank you Nora

    1. Your absolutely right. The relationships are really giving Eve a family.

  4. Thank you, tantalizing, fun, clever and helps me keep the waiting drool under control ❤️

  5. Hide and seek? Is it as much fun as strip pinball? That was great!

  6. Where to hide? Not there.
Bribe the cat, so he won’t tell.
    Hope we don’t get lost.

    1. Love this one, Paula . . . giving our Laura a run for her haiku money.

  7. Pool or garden? Water or soft grass? It’s Roarke! All choices are good!

  8. After the purple boots incident, I cannot wait for this installment! LOL

    1. Did you mean that as a joke? Since that’s always the question in the teaser comments? (No, btw.)

      Laura

    2. Omg please stop asking if eve is going to have a baby! I’m so tired of that question!! If I’m tired of it I can’t imagine how sick of it Nora is!

  9. OMG this is great! I can’t wait to find out where they hide. And I love the cleverness of the teaser.

  10. Okay, Laura . . . the haiku was great. Now, video? Whatever could you do on video to tease us about Eve and Roarke? I am truly looking forward to that.

    1. I’m not sure it would tease about Eve and Roarke — that would involve puppets, I think. Honing my haiku skills now. Maybe a video on Friday to recap.

      Laura

  11. Cop books like Sherlock?
    Or maybe a vintage Robb?
    More the plot thickens!

    1. Oh wouldn’t THAT be an awesome one! Or failing that, a vintage Nora Roberts “Mystery Romance”! Can’t you just see Eve and Roarke spending a cozy evening in front of the fireplace reading one together?

  12. I love the teasers and enjoy coming across them in the books.

  13. The teasers are awesome! I can’t wait to read the book and say to myself, Oh that’s what Laura was referring to! ❤️ So excited!

  14. Laura..these are great…my mind has gone in so many directions. Can’t wait to see who is wearing mohair and pink shantung!!

  15. “Mohair! Pink Shantung!
    She who rides a hobbyhorse
    gets some alpaca.”

Riddle me this, riddle me that.

  16. I don’t know whether to hope it’s not a real alpaca, or be happy Bella gets a pet – lol. Good one, Laura!

  17. Laura, thanks for all you do keeping us informed and making it fun.

Nora, Thank you doesn’t seem enough. Your books have saved my sanity more times than I can count! I have loved every one.

  18. These comments are so fun, I wish this blog had a “like” or “love” button (similar to Facebook) so I could – very quickly – express myself on some of them. Suffice it to say, Laura, you make this a very fun and satisfying place to hang for a few minutes each week. Thanks. And to Nora, as well.

  19. Loved reading all the comments…I wonder if when they play hide and seek around the house they find the big blue bed…it is there someplace..lol

  20. Wednesday – I think it’s EVE and her “hobbyhorse” (alternate definition of the word) about expensive clothes. Roarke probably gave her an alpaca robe or something like that. 🙂

  21. Haiku-licious – the teasers and vids are hilarious – thank you ❤️

  22. Living under a rock
    Is where I have been
    Missing Laura’s greatness
    With her clues held within
The amazing writing of our dear Nora
    Her words feed my soul
Maybe it will be Roarke this time, naked wearing a fedora

    Couldn’t help myself 🙂

      1. I read this over the phone to my friend, also an In Death addict, and she immediately said “Wearing the fedora WHERE?”. Now my mind is in the gutter with hers. Oh well, not the first time – lol. C’mon Tuesday!

  23. Thankfully, I will be distracted by a jigsaw puzzle competition and 2000 + boxes of Girl Scout cookies this weekend. I already have my Audible copy ordered and will be listening as close to 12:01 midnight as I can Tuesday morning.

  24. Teasers make us all giddy and silly – thank you Nora and Laura ❤️

  25. Well – received it over the weekend . . . just finished it. Another great read. Thanks, JDR. I think this is among one of the best In Death books of all or, at the very least, in the top three. So appreciative of your talent and desire to share it with all of us. Slainte!
